Maybe there is some truth to this '-PAW' thing (for that matter, check out the CAA2C in my sig :)). I just checked all my ole 0441-0447 Winnies that run 2728-2763:
3000+ @ 2748, 1.580 volts = RPAW
3200+ @ 2728, 1.480 volts = RPBW
3500+ @ 2763, 1.488 volts = RPAW
I'm at work so I can't check my other 2763 mhz 3500+, but I know it is an 0441Txxx.
At the time, I thought the 'Rxxx' was the key to good cores.
Actually, the first two CPUs above are not maxed out yet, but I would guess they top out at 2760-ish like the 3500+s. I can bench Aquamark, 3DMark2000/2001 at 2794-2800, but the other two Marks are no go.
The CAA2C does SuperPI 32M at 2880, 1.617 VCORE.
Man my venice is crap =( Whats all this talk about high OC at stock vcore?? lol Mine cant do anything at stock vcore..I still havent found a max stable prime setting. 2.8 is unstable as well as 2.75. What is the highest you can go on vcore for these venice chips?
Help me please... :(

those winnies are all outstanding, no need for a venice... :toast:
P.S. I could superPi 32M at 2700/1.40 vcore....... EASY
If it aint prime it aint stable.................. ouch 48C
Just posted my EPEW results, im satisfied, but was hoping for more at less voltage.
I'm probably going to RMA it for a refund, along with the DOA DVD Burner i got.
Sorry, not into Prime. If the rigs pass all four Marks and Aquamark, maybe SuperPI 32M that is good enough for me :). This can be an adventure as some CPUS don't like one Mark or the other. The rigs are gaming stable in that they will run 30' of the IL-2 Sturmovik and SS2nd Encounter demos with no lockup or error box.Quote:

I got two 38mm thick, 120 mm fans blowing in the case, and two 120 mm fans blowing through my HC200 unit, and they pick up dust fast. Heck, this is one reason I don't bother to burn in my VX/UTT stuff too.
If I had to guess, they would Prime at 2700 at the same voltage. Pretty much par for the course for a good chip. The CAA2C seems to be a good one, though.
Man, these DPBW's and GPBW demolish my CPBW. One letter off of 200mhz more. :P
I guess we use our rigs for different reasons, Being a DBA for the past 8 years and an avionics tech 13 years prior to that, I frequently run MS-SQL and Oracle 9i/10g usually at the same time to try and break'em and keep on top of things, also do alot of video editing as well as some gaming. I run 24/7 and I havent found a system that will withstand my normal usage without passing memtest and prime/small FFT for 4 hrs minimum, usually overnight.Quote:

I'm not bashin here but trying to illistrate the fact that some of you may be giving yourselves a false sense of security and to hopefully bring everyone to the same playing field (standard testing). This is the only way we will be able to make any accurate assumptions about the stress levels our hardware can handle............. just IMO
P.S> Didnt your mama teach you to NEVER assume anything? :nono:
I totally agree with the other comments in this thread abt removing the shim, i have had a drop of over 10C in temps and gained an additional 50-70mhz in max prime95 stable overclk. Where as be4 my temps on load were reaching 54C+, im not passing 42C nowQuote:

Shim? You mean the IHS? BTW, those are infact copper right? My friend thinks they're aluminum...I think they are copper because I know I saw a guy lap one and it was all nice and shiney copper.
Has anyone noticed any differences between say a 3000+ or 3200+ ?? I was going to go with a 3200+ because, honestly I don't know, I like starting off at 2GHz lol....but damn I could save $50 and get just as high of an OC it seems like being that I'm seeing these 3000's hitting 2.8GHz and beyond...I don't know what to do!
Yeah IHS, lol.Quote:

Heatspreaders are nickel-plated copper. Hold one in your hand. WAAAAY too heavy to be aluminum.
Well got my 3000+ !

3200+ 0516EGPW from Monarch CAN DO 2.67GHZ MAX(prime, memtest, 3dmark stable) on air at 1.7v(1.6 effective with the k8n neo2) THE MAX speed it allowed the RAM to run at was 267mhz not 1mhz more, my WINCHESTER 3000+ allowed 300mhz
3200+ 0516EPEW from Newegg CAN DO 2.7GHZ MAX under the same environment. It seemed as though the EPEW had a slightly better memory controller as it allowed 270mhz and took longer to fail prime95 with tighter timings, but still only a 30mhz difference. The results were ultimately unimpressive when compared to those of others in this thread, however they are realistic.
The monitored temperatures under load never rose above 42C under prime95 with my T.T. Big typhoon and dropped down to as low as 32C when Idle. They only rose above 42C when I force Fed the cpu 1.8v just to see how far it would go on high vcore, but still the max was 2.67-2.7.
I did try RAM dividers, high vdimm, I upped the rails on my ocz powerstream 520, but after days of trying and trying I realized I had hit the ceiling in terms of the overclockability of these particular chips.
So good luck to all who got the good chips, but beware that some of these do suck.

Now I found the 2 poor results before I found the 3 excellent results. I honeslty dunno whut to do or where to go with this. I dunno whether to honeslty believe the ones that got so high or not. I do believe the ones that couldn't get 2.6Ghz stable cuz I have the same problem. One of those chips was on a DFI NF4 and the other was on the same board as me (MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum). Granted most of you are prolly now going to point out that I contradicted myself (overclocking is hit or miss but some are hard to believe) but I dunno how else to put how I FEEL about it.
I got my +3200 from Ncix today they only got them in stock yesterday, batch info is lbble 0515 apaw.
Using an Msi neo2 plat. came with bios 1.5, booted fine correctly id'd chip.
Having a problem with temps... reporting 42~idle to 50~ load with Xp-90 and 92mm tornado? Installed bios 1.8 same issue. Anyone know a bios with working temps, and best for Ocz rev. 2?
First I tested how far it will post and had it in bios at 3100mhz on my frist try on 1.450vcore, didn't try for more.
Right now i'm just installing windows and I got it running 2800mhz no problem on stock vcore, take a look i'm hoping for 3ghz stable :D
What is the recommened max vcore? I would post picture but I need somewhere to host it. Anyone know a good place?
SO FAR I THINK THESE CHIPS ARE THE SHIZZ
It's specially frustrating to see some Winchesters reach higher clocks. True that most of it is luck, yet I believe people from now on should not only post their steppings and OC pics but also post which E-tailer and they got the cpus from and the amount they paid altogether as well as the date. To improve "luck" I would say steer away from the newegg 3200+s which ship from their NJ facility and from the Monarch 3200+s that ship from GA. My $.02.
