You're looking at it the wrong way. NewEgg wasn't "holding out" on us. They are just selling what they are supplied. My guess was that for whatever reason, AMD was producing "A"s first, selling them to the distributors who then were supplying retailers like NewEgg. So naturally, the distributors move their older stock, before moving their newer stuff to NewEgg. NewEgg purchases a limited quantity at a time so they've only moved a small portion of their distributor's stock. At least, that was the theory anyway :)
But looking at Endre's link, you might be right and it doesn't look like it matters anyway. "I" vs "A" does not seem to matter as much as the week they were produced. Well... mostly. :cool:
Officially, I think it's just a crapshoot now so buy whatever.
