Athlon XP-M 2400+ 35Watt

You're looking at it the wrong way. NewEgg wasn't "holding out" on us. They are just selling what they are supplied. My guess was that for whatever reason, AMD was producing "A"s first, selling them to the distributors who then were supplying retailers like NewEgg. So naturally, the distributors move their older stock, before moving their newer stuff to NewEgg. NewEgg purchases a limited quantity at a time so they've only moved a small portion of their distributor's stock. At least, that was the theory anyway :)

But looking at Endre's link, you might be right and it doesn't look like it matters anyway. "I" vs "A" does not seem to matter as much as the week they were produced. Well... mostly. :cool:

Officially, I think it's just a crapshoot now so buy whatever.

After what some may consider unnecessary and excessive thought, I've finally placed the order for an AQYHA 2400+ 35Wer.

Will report back in a week or so with O/C results.

It does 2500MHz with 1.825V, but anything above that is hard to get... 2560MHz is max stable, needs 2V for that. I ran multiple benches at 2.6GHz and 2.1V :stick: . Aircooled BTW

This chip is not better than my old desktop 2500+ in terms of max overclocks, but it needs only 1.825V for 2500Mhz, compared to 1.93V for my old one :D That's why I keep it. It runs MUCH cooler too :)

no but seriously, just look at how much the pr goes up for each clockspeed jump in the barton chips, and its a simple ratio problem.

i was able to get to 2578 (1.85v sp97) 10.5x245 with my

AQYHA 0415

i could get further with 2.0v but still feeling out my new dfi infinity

Aint realy that easy...
There are alot to take into the calculation,
First clockspeed, then fsb, then cache.
But thoose are the obvious, you also have to look at the change in pr rating between the never higher clocked cpus and the first bartons. Divide 3000/2167 (barton XP3000+ pr/mhz) and 2500/1833 (2500+/mhz) then you see the pr rating is adjusted so the never amds rating is higher/mhz then the older ones.

Yeah i could probably figure it out if i tried but i remember there being a webpage a long time ago that did it for you.

edit : by my calculations a 2.5 - 2.6 barton mobile @ 200fsb would equal a 4000+???

Using the pr rating used on 3200+ then a 2600mhz Barton @200FSB is 3782+.

A Barton @ 2600MHz 200MHz FSB = 4100+

SAEs chip = 264x11.5 = 5300+
