Remember, Nvidia killed 3dfx! :yepp: :D

Those 2 images make me more happy of my HD5870 :)
will people stop posting those images, all that says is that ATI has a better angle independence algorithm and nothing else, it doesn't mean the AF quality is better, not in the LEAST! Do you even understand what that image represents?
Here's a quote from anandtech:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/2841/13Quote:
What you won’t see however is a difference, particularly with our static screenshots. When discussing the matter, AMD noted that the difference in perceived quality between the old algorithm and the new one was practically the same. After looking at matters we find ourselves in agreement with AMD; we were not able to come up with any situations where there was a noticeable difference, beyond the obvious AF quality tests that are designed to identify such changes.
I have a solution. Just boycott Crysis.
Warning big pictures ahead not 56k friendly
compare the image quality

that 24 aa is super crazy :banana::banana::banana: just love it best aa mode imho as for comparison we need close ups its impossible to understand this way they all look same
close ups to what trees ? floor?
floor thats what pcgh have done
ok i will take some with different settings
lol dude did you even read my post??
It goes something like this:
"can you say that the implementation in practicality and theory complement each other? In theory a 5850 is much better than the GTX 480 in AF but does in really translate in practical superior AF performance.............but in reality the IQ is not really influenced that much at all. "
in theory their AF is not better either. we dont know enough about an algorithm by looking at mip levels in a tunnel. anand's theory misses half of the equation. the 5870's AF severely undersamples to make up for the cost of angle independence. this in turn loses sharp details in textures. there is no such thing as a free lunch.

It is pleasant that the overall image of a HD 5000 flickers less than it does on the Radeon HD 4000/3000/2000. The so-called Banding, transitions between textures, is less obvious. After extensive tests and direct comparisons we conclude that the HD 5000 AF is equal to the Nvidia driver default ("Quality” including "Trilinear Optimization”) - except some games like Crysis. With HQ-AF without "economy measures” a modern Geforce still filters more homogenous than a Radeon HD 5000.

noo waaii man. Nvidia is evil incarnate. :p: ;)
Seriously though, I don't see much of a change between the pics that Scorpio posted. <shrug>
I regularly play MW:LL that uses the Crysis engine and haven't seen any visual difference between the most recent drivers and the last few ones. I'm too busy trying to nail my opponent's mechs to notice a difference in the smoothness of the mipmap transitions. :)
The pics don't show AF because you are not looking far enough away. Go to an open room and just look forward.
