(not in CPU) meaning external do CPU. ;)
holy sweet mother............................ was a bad bios install.
went back to 6030 or what ever and no more memory errors.
if your having trouble like me. tech asus support blows chunks.
when you reset cmos. move the jumper. then turn power on. hold for 5 seconds. it wont shut off after it turns on. but hold it in for 5 seconds.
then shut off power and move jumper back.go into bios dont set anything.load bios flash. go back to 6030. then let it boot up. just hit F2 to load defaults and let it boot to windows. then shut down.
when it comes back up go into bios. dont change anything. load bios defualts again. just to make sure. then flash back to 1002. no more mem errors @ 1066 gang or unganged.
wtf 2 weeek of wondering if i had bad mobo, ram, cpu, gpu. all becuase i set date and time, and ram timmings and voltage. well anyways im back up will have to format again. have new ram on the way lol even thoug i dont need it now. with the bad bios install. ram @ 1066 would error in memtest86 and in vista memory test. 800 would seem like it was ok but its not. now no errors but still have a bad install from last format so i will be formating again for the 5th time or so . ugggggggg. then i will get back to oc'ing again.
i did reach 2.9 in 0603 with just using standard. up the multi. not manual or ai nos. running full mem test now as i type. use to phail @ test 5 or 6. its on test 8 and 93% done. so its lookign good. i will be back @ 3-3.2 tomorrow after i format.
hi guys. i've a bit dumb question. can anyone confirm this mb with nvidia card works with pcie 2.0? gpuz/everest/any another soft show me just pcie, not pcie 2.0 x16 @ x16 2.0? it's worthless for me, but my customer need any answer it's broken mb or should use ati card?
My 8800GT worked at x16 2.0, I would show you but I have a 6800gt in now while I wait for my 9800gtx to arrive from evga step-up
Well, the vapo is no longer setup. I got annoyed with how crappy the cpu was clocking and I put air cooling back on. The 9850 can now do 3ghz, but the nb can't touch the 2750 that it once did, I'm not sure it could even do 2.5. Now to just get a quieter air cooler to hold me off from buying a water cooling system and a chiller...
mine says pci-express 1.0 x16 for the 8800gts g92. this is from everest.
UPDATE: new memory. no more memory errors. much more stable.
past all memtest85+ runs. with 1-4 sticks in @ 1066 unganed.
will leave like this for a few days all stock on the cpu. let coast along.
then i will be back with some OC updates. :yepp: getting 7500 at stock on overdrive benchmark. :D
EDIT: uggggg still no errors on ram but the lock up and freezes are sill there. time to RMA the cpu.
RE-EDIT: well ill give it one more gowith the cpu before RMA. asus says bad vista install and so does amd. never telling each of them what the other has said or that i talked to either one. so i will try tonight to format and reistall vista again with the new ram and apply all updates including a micrsoft patch that asus linked me to on the microsoft site. then put in the extra ram. will format and install with only 1 video card, 1 ram stick. everything on auto defualt settings as they recomend. then start installing all drivers required. the newest versions from asus site. also as they requested. said not to use anything from the disk. here i am going in circles. as i tried this when i first got the set up/ allthough i had bad ram at the time. ugggggg. so anyway my nightmare continues...................
PS: Level 3 tech suport says do not ever turn on plug and play Os in the bios if you have you must unistall all drivers and reinstall or just go ahead set to defualt and format and reinstall everything. they say all defualt settigns are were they need to be. once you get stable. then to try and reover clock and not to change anything but ram and cpu timings and volts.
Update: formatted and reinstalled everything.
left overdrive stability test running all night while i slept. 6 hours. max temp at stock was 43-44c full load. no errors at all. :D
this is with everything aty the defualt settings everything on auto except memory set at 1066 unganged. even left on the cpu tweak and auto express.
so this lattest install after changing out the bad ram i had seem like i finaly have a stable system. :)
in a few days i will head for the 3+ ghz club once again. :hehe: :scope:
Switching from the xp-90c to the ultra 120 extreme dropped my temps almost 10C, got me stable at 3ghz, and gave me an air cooler that is quiet enough to sleep to. 3.1 might be stable, only did prime small fft's for 7 hours at 13.5x230.
well im not having any temp problems. but still cant get anything stable over stock. uggggggggggg.
ok what does everyone think . is this a bios issue or a cpu issue?
guess ill go read all the pages thru again. to check bios settings. asus says all defualt settings should be left alone. except ram and cpu.
i know old said before to shutoff cpu tweak and auto express. but i dont see the pcie going to 124 anymore not sure why. with auto express on auto. course ive tried all those settings before. with the bad ram i was able to get 3+ before and make 3dmark runs. but now i have good ram and cant get past stock. very strange.
Having same issue.. i can goto 2.6 stable.. thats it. If i adjust anything past that Boom wont boot. it wont even post at most settings.. im perty disapointed this is one of the stronger amd boards out there... but not sure if its the board.. or the chip. Funny thing though. Mine runs at 1.3v on auto... i turned it down to 1.2375 and was able to hit 2.8 for a short period of time... now at 1.3 i cant even post... how is that posable?
Higher ram speed means you'll need more vcore along with better timings. I think amd needs to work on getting their imc to work better with less power cause that seems to be what causes voltage bumps the most. Switching to a better cooler could help, 3ghz is perfectly fine for me with 1.4v on cpu and nb. Here is what I have...
CPU Multi 12.5x
NB Multi 10x
HT Multi 7x
HTT 240
vCore 1.4v
vNB 1.4v
That's all I have set, everything else left at auto. Full load is 54C actual, the new version of speedfan is what I use along with the actual gimps testing for prime 95 because otherwise it doesn't heat up nearly as much as any other test.
well i think i may have been all wrong about being stable and not stable.
i can run overdrive stability all night. i can run prime95 toture test no problem.
im @ 2.9 14.5 x 200 @ stock volts seems the only thing that lock me up is windows expierence index. WTF!
cpu tweak off seems to make cpu run about 8-10c cooler on idle anyway.
Mine wont go past around 2689mhz SOON as i surpass that it wont boot anymore. I cant help but think its my ram... i have OCZ Reaper 1066 maybe i need to go down to 1 gig sticks. these are 2 gig sticks... i duno sometimes when i boot it tellls me its lowered the ram speed for stability or some crap.:shakes: I dont get it.. As far as temps go im running at 29 to 30c Idle and 33.5 to 34 running AOD tests. thats at stock...
AOD is not the best stress algorithm and will not push the processor to 100% and exercise it completely. Check it with Prime95, or OCCT, both of these peg the power meter on my measurements.
Also, try down clocking your memory first, if you suspect memory ... easy to do, just set to DDR2-800 (or the appropriate divider) in BIOS.
jack
Yeah i set the ram to 800. Still no dice. If i run one stick of ram i can run in 1066 mode np... 2 sticks of ram and no go pc wont even boot and i have to reset the biso via jumper. As far as prime ill run that see what my temps are ty.
Please report back what you observe. On prime95 I see 49-50 deg C.
I have also be successful of 3.0 GHz at stock voltage on this board and CPU using 1066 memory 2 sticks. Could you post the revision/step information from your CPU? Most of the higher clocking CPUs I am seeing at XS are from 0810 (week 10).
Jack
Thanks Jack - but I can't get 1066 to work on this board and my other ones are dead ATM, so its a wait.
Set your RAM in 667 or 800 mode *GameOver* and give it a whirl using multi only first - try 2700 (13.5x multi), leave voltage stock :)
untill i set my ram at 800 anything past 2.8ghz would require alot of volts and lock up randomly.
im now @ 2972.5 with 205x14.5 x11nb and x9=1.8HT @ 1.3v
so there must be something to what they say about 1066setting in bios. something is wrong with the bios with 1066 ram setting.
still not sure what cpu tweak is doing.
i can run prime95. 3dmark06 or just about anything else in vista. but dont hit vista experience index. after overclocking. it locks mine right up. anything else no problem.
Can you run SnM 4-threads fine SkullCracka?
ummm i dont know what a snm 4 thread is give me a link or tell me how to do that and i will try that tonight.
not understanding the vista/windows experience locking up the pc at any settings above stock.
gota be the bios holding us all back. seems @ 1066 anything above 2.8 needs massive volts. @ 800 anything above were im at right now needs lots of volts.
This: S&M
Set 100% load all cores, run the short one first and then the longer one if that passes (length) - tick all the options to test on each core apart from Power Supply test / HD test.
what's the temperature of this motherboard?
My is 27 idle / 29 load!
Is corrected?
Ok under Prime95 my temps are about 42 and 43 but my rooms about 10 deg F hotter today also the AC has been off. Tried setting the ram to 667 No dice. Tried just going to 2.7 on multy with stock and wont boot. Keep getting File missing or not found in vista. =/ Im Doomed
btw Revision is DR-B3 and steping is 3
