I have a 3500+ 90nm and this NEO2 baord on topic here...
Wheneven i set my VID voltage to 1.55, i get 1.55v to my core.. but whenever i set it to say, 1.55v then set the overvolatage to say.... 5% over VID, i get liek 1.43v...WTF? basically, the overvolatge isnt working..
anyhthing i se it to just lowers it, im useing the 1.4 bios, off MSI site..havent tried a Beta BIOS yet..
BTW: im currently running
220Htt, 5x LTD, 10 multiplyer, (i just read that if i use Pageup i can change it, so ill try tonight)
2400Mhz
DDR@ 220Mhz 2-2-2-6 2.65v (seems to be overvolting by about .09v)

I can see the floppy drive in "my computer" but when I dubble click it , it tells me to put a medium or something else in the drive ?

ok, i bummped it to 2.5Ghz last night,
228x11, 4x LTD, 1.55v (still cant use the +3.3%, +5%, it seems to lowerd the votlage..) But CPU-z Is reporting only 1.47v to CPU? This its reading it wrong? So where is the the point to read PCU votlage with a multimeter anyway? I want to get accurate results...

Welp my buddy just got this today at his work here in WA.
We only had a few minutes to toy with it and managed a post @ 2.6 10x260 1:1 3xHT but he has Kingston hypercrap ram 3700 with an SPD of 3-4-4-8. So it's nothing spectacular. As I said, we only had a few minutes but 240 seemed pretty happy. He'll be on later and we'll see what he ends up with.

On my rig I have a 3K+ week 47TPAW running @ 2.61 with a 290FSB 1:1 using the OCZ 3200 plat rev2. Very happy so far. It's been folding for about a week solid, no burps. But I am having problems with my BFG5900u and blue screens when gaming. The windows reporting always points at either the graphics drive specifically or a driver in general. Anyone with known issues on that? Maybe a work around?

My PSU is a antec 550watt, moded rails, 3.42v, 5.25v, and 12.5v...mild but good, that under load... So i dont think its my PSU doing it...
I got a screen shot.. dont mind the low HTT, im working on a max CPU then ill max that out with my TCCD... but seriouslty, its set to 1.55v inthe bIOS, and if i set it to auto, then it says, 1.52v!!!!!!!! arrrg that annoying... ..weak IC mabey?

I have news. I read here that the XP-90 wouldn't fit on the MSI K8N Neo2 when also using Corsair Pro memory (the ones with activity leds). Well, since I got the memory a while ago and I decided do that upgrade without knowing this issue, I was ready to check for myself that, now the news: The Thermalright XP-90 DOES fit on a MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum when using Corsair Pro memory, I'm using a pair of 3200XL Pro memory, the space left between the memory and the heatsink should be about the thickness of a common CD.
However, and don't see the point to use this memory with this setup, the leds can't bee seen since they are totally covered by the XP-90. Well, if you try to look at them through the heatsink you would.

Im using a Winnie 3200+, and I want more than 2700Mhz. Therefore i need the dividers, but this mobo wont do it. The chip is good for 2900+Mhz under a 404a mach2.
Its a 0411 with Korea 0441 chip. What kind of crap mobo is this??

IM using PQI Turbo (TCCD-437) and Im at 244 right now....primed last night for about 11 hours at 243x9. It bugs me that im stuck here, but it must be my chip. I have just swapped my A8V for the Neo2, with my Asus i was only able to get 240x9, and it was just a tad unstable......UT2k4 would crash....Farcry also....now i played 4 rounds on UT2k4 Onslaught and it ran right through perfectly. So I turned it up to 245 and before windows screen popped up it rebooted itself....so then went to 244 and have been here for a few hours....just did some Sandra benchmarks, ran Aquamark, 3dmark01 and 05. Going to play poker tonight, but will prime it when im gone.Quote:

With a China mobo you can make high htt + divider work if you boot with 1:1 and then set divider with tweaker. One of the differences is read premeable which is higher when booting with divider. 5.5ns with 1:1 and 7.5 with divider.

I finally figured out an oc'ing problem I was having with my 3200+ on my Neo2. I have three sata HD's, my main windows drive is on sata3 and my two storage drives are on sata1 & sata2. With my Gskill LE I can get it to boot into windows 100% stable at 240 1:1 with all drives connected. If I go one Mhz over 240 it will hang everytime at the windows xp logo. No matter what I do it will not get into windows.
Now If I don't have any of my storage drives hooked into sata1 or sata2 I can take the chip all the way to 265FSB 1:1. This is bumming me out cause I am down one whole HD in my system. Does anyone know a way around this. I am using bios 1.36B
Granted, I am a newbie at overclocking... but I cannot seem to get this system stable at anything above 220MHz. I have also failed to get the RAM running at the advertised 2-2-2-5-1T @ 200MHz, 2.75v -- it will always fail Prime95 Torture Test.
1. I am running the RAM at 2-3-2-5-1T @ 215MHz, 2.75V -- rock-solid and stable. Ran Prime95 Torture for 11HRS, ran SuperPI successfully on several occastions and rounded this out with 3DMark05.
2. I have tried increasing Vdimm (to 2.8v) and Vcore (to 1.6v), reducing HT to 4x and even reducing the multiplier to 10x to make the processor run at the 2.2GHz it's supposed to run at... and no dice? It will ALWAYS crash in 3dMark05.
Ideas? Suggestions?

Dose it post 2-2-2-5-1t, and fail in windows? Also that memory has Samsung TCCD chips on them, a lot of the time it dose not like voltage at all...try running it 2.6 or 2.65v. There are many that overclock way better on less voltage…I’m talking 260+ on only 2.65v…so give it a try..Quote:

Ummm… you have a 3200+ the stock multiplier is 10, you cant go higher, than 10, and you CPUs stock speed is 2.0Ghz, not 2.2, and no one is guaranteeing you a free 200Mhz. Also again, go in a look to see what its reading you CPU voltage as.. Ill bet its a lot lower than 1.6v, I have mine set to 1.55 with the +10% and I only get like 1.63v, I cant remember......Quote:

On the dvice manager ide sata hd tab I have found the enable command queing option. It was unchecked on install. (I loaded xp pro up got all the updates etc.,) I put a check in it and rebooted. I got a burst of 107 and a sustained of 71.4 . Anyone else see this? Also enable read caching is greyed out on this panel, all others are checked such as let bios determine tx mode and enable write caching.
I dualboot with xp64, and all items on this panel, are checked and not greyed out, except that I have to check enable command queing. whew.... I have searched and haven't found anyone with similar posts anywhere. I have the latest bios and nvidia drivers etc. It was the same on previos bios and drivers though. Any thoughts out there?
Also, after switching my raptor from sata1 to sata3 (due to someone earlier mentioning something about pci locks on sata 3and4) I get a BSOD when trying to boot into winxp 64 on D (same hd) or win2000 on the ide master drive. WHY? The BSOD mentions hard drive controllers being new or unsupported and recommends chkdsk /f which I can't do since I can't boot into either of these drives. I installed win2000 on the ide master before I even connected the sata drives initially. How can just switching the sata drive from 1 to 3 cause this? I have disable the ati speed up and run the memory in manual to get the 2225 settings with aggressive time disabled. I am not overclocking at all. :banana4:

i tried this but it is not working i boot 1:1 then set a divider and the system crashed
what i found out is that cpu multipliers 8 and 9 a much worst for overclocking the ram than the 7 multi
can you try it and confirm please
it is a pity that my winnie has a maximum of 9 multi so i can`t go 1:1 and reach my 3000+ limit 2700mhz

Yes, it posts with no problem... and yes, it fails in Windows when running the aforementioned test. The only reason I was giving it voltage was because the packaging actually states "Test results using 2.75v". I'll try to reduce the voltage to see if that helps, at all.Quote:

Dam did anyone notice that this board doesnt let you max overclock your Video card? I lost a few mhz coming from a A8V to this. Its not that big of a deal, but wondering what would cause this? Maybe since its a Nforce board? Enquiring minds want to know =)

In particular, I'm getting odd readings for "temp2" and "temp3". I thought "temp2" was the cpu, but despite that temp varying from 48C at idle to 55C at load, my heatsink is always cold to the touch. "temp3" usually sits at 32C at load but jumped up to about 45C when I reduced the speed of my heatsink fan to it's lowest speed, so I'm wondering if temp2 is sensed near my memory (which gets very hot) and temp3 is actually the cpu temp.
I know it's sort of a dumb question, but mbm5 won't even load on my computer for some reason so I am wondering why temp2 doesn't change at all regardless of fan speed, and temp3 rises when I reduce the fan speed. And my heatsink is cool to the touch even after re-seating it twice.
heatsink is XP90, fan is an adjustable 90mm unit, cpu is 3200 winchester running at 9x230 and 1.45v.

So, I sold one to my friend for the price I got it for (when i could hiked the the price)... Promised my mate I could get him one so kept my promise...
The other one was sold though the place I work because it was either part with my 3200+ & get the sale or keep it & lose a potential sale...

Sorry bout the off topic nbut I had to get that off my chest...
I've also had another K8N neo2 that would freeze on me with both the 130nm & 90nm CPU... Mobo would constantly beep when trying dual channel but amazingly even after sending it back for RMA, it was found to be not faulty...
I wonder WTF MSI do to test the mobo's out.. I'm thinking that they (MSI) only test the mobo with 1 stick of RAM & if it boots, then it's NOT faulty...
What a bunch of $ucks... their Quality Department should but taken out on a rice field & shot... Each & every one of them :mad:.

mine is pretty off in the BIOS and MBM reads the same results, I just use a thermal Diot to read... i have mine right next to the core and one drilled into the side of my HS base...

hey i may have fried my 3500+, i missed when reading voltage with multimeter.I think i shorted the mosfet legs.. If the board powers up without a CPU in it, It jsut comes on without pushin power, as soon as i plug in the PSU. then the baord is good right? But when the CPU is in nothing happens when i push the power button...... Any thoughts, i thought at least it wouldower and not post?

I am trying to play a bit with my Neo 2 board till the PCIEX cards arrive. (DFI is waiting in the box).
I am using a Vapo LS with FX55 and I have come up to some strange behavior. I am using 1.36moded bios atm because it is the only on that gives all available voltages for CPU.
Anywas, before the vapo I was almost default, watercooled, at 11x240. Memory is VX at 3.2volt and 2-2-2-5 1T.
Now I am trying simply to raise the multiplier , to 12 or 13, but nothing. The system boots up fine, I can go to bios etc, but I cannot go to windows! I get a PNF_LIST_CORRUPT error (blue screen). It seems though that the cpu can handle this load. But why it does not boot?
One more thing I tried, using clockgen, I raised the frequency from inside clockgen. It does not give any bsod screens, but when I try to run super pi for example, it immediadly gives an error...
Any ideas?

My Corsair 3200XL boots fine at 200 MHz, some Corsair xms3500 with BH-5 boots at 166 MHz and I cannot simply change that.
I have succesfully changed the frequency with the A64 tweaker for the BH-5's, but is it possible to boot this memory at 200 MHz doing something in the Bios?
If you up you HTT speed, and coolgen is telling you your Agp speed is upping with it, then set t to 67 it will lock like its sospouse to, but you your overclcoking and the AGP is not moveing then leave it at 66..Quote:

Well, i just ordered a new Epox 9nda3 board, as i think i killed my NEO2, but it wont post....not sure why i just get FF...i hope my 3500 90nm is shot...
hmmm, with the new Epox board it still dosnt post. I may have killed my 3500+....dose anyone know what if would do if the epox baords BIOS is not up to date to support my 90nm?
The MSI board, will not do anything when i push the power buttom. When i remove the CPU, and plug in the power cord it comes on by itself....and dose nothing...
THe Epox board, when the CPU is installed, will power up, but the screeen dose not come one, it dose not post, It never says anythign but "FF" when the CPU is not installed, it will still power up
any thoughts....

I have had this board for about a month, so far i'm pretty satisfied with it. Do any of you guys hear a strange high-frequency electrical buzzing noise coming from the board? Its really an odd sort of noise. It seems to fluctuate ... like when i run prime 95 it will increase in volume. The temps in core center seem kinda high ... I have an xp-90 w/ 52cfm fan but still even today in corecenter the temps were going all the way up to 62 degrees celcius, thats with 1.6volts on the cpu. I wish i could get more than 2.5 -2.6 ghz out of this 3200+ , but i can't put anymore volts on this cpu, temps get too high plus i live in florida so that don't help!

btw, hey guys..having trouble here taking the winnie 3000+ to 300x9. right now running with 280MHzx9. AMD 64 is sure is fast with superpi, but not that great with 3dmark2001. my previous athlon xp-m run at 2646 (240x11) did better and it was stable. with winnie, 280x9 ist not so stable sometimes with superpi and it's only like 2520MHz. i'm bit disappointed. my last hope would be new bios, i think...any suggestion? using 141 and it's not so different from the official 1.4. is 1.5x good?

Got some errors in windows and reboot pcmark.
So used mem divider to check max out of cpu.
Later on gonna put pc4000 in dualchan , am testing with bh5 512mb ( 1 module )

I've a msi k8n neo2 and sometimes i have cold boot issues.
i start the pc, black screen, after a while a beep and my msi says "system is in overclocking safe" or something similar.
i have to enter the bios, save settings and now i can start the pc, even without overclock.
i don't know what to do, i've tried some bios, nothing. anybody with the same problem?
Anyone overclcok a 3500+ .13 newcastel core on this baord... ?
I too have exactly the same problem. Just bought all new hardware to update my ageing xp1800. Neo2, 3200+ etc. etc. Worked perfectly on first boot, decided to update to the latest beta bios (1.52) before I did anything else and it just switched off after finishing. Now only stays on for about 3 seconds and goes off again. :(Quote:

It's slower only 2s than 9x312 = 2810 and 166 div , 255 2,5-3-3-7-1T

If it's been in use, it may have stuck itself firmer, so heat it with a hairdryer to melt the glue.
Yeah I saw that too split, been going to that other forum for donkeys years. I've got my bios saviour and new bios chip now so hopefully tonight all will be well. Shame though as I do have some ram in this computer I could have used, but don't need it anymore.

In the sticky (first post in this thread) it states does not like OCZ EB ram.
Many find that the case, and then you see someone hitting 270+ FSB with it, but others seem to get stuck @ 221.
Now if you read here, the chips on the Ballistics are more or less the same as those on the OCZ, so yours might OC well, or it might not.

The EB does work on this board in most cases but some people have had troubles. The problem wasn't with the board itself but had to do with the CPU and the memory controller. If you get the combo and it doesn't work out we will help you get everything going
So it may well be that your ram will like your CPU or it won't.
The ram that seems to fly on this board is the Samsung TCCD chips. (G.Skill etc), but you may well be lucky with your Ballistics.
The EB likes volts, so maybe the 1.36 beta.

I think my board has died suddenly.
It was working all fine and i decided to put some hds in it ... afterwards the pc booted but the screen wouldn jump on.
Zo i booted without HD but no effect. Then with another graka... nope.
Other memory ??? Nope...
So could it be the motherboard ? Or what can it be ?
what is the best bios for the neo2 right now ? i will get my neo2 and a new winnie 3000+ (pretested on an asus a8v @ 2600 mhz @ 1.55 vcore) i will use my adata vitesta 4000.
If you need volts, stick with the 1.36.
Someone over here tested some with a DMM, and it seems that some revert to 1.4V when taken past +10% Set.
Best for volts is WE7025NMS.136
+13% Set; Measures 1.64V
+15% Set; Measures 1.7V
+18.3% Set; Measures 1.74V
i think i wont go really higher than 1.65 vcore , the most important would be the most stable oc bios.
what is to say about the temp reading is it correct ?

To answer your question... yes, I have the cold issue with Winchesters, big time.
I have tried two Winchesters with various bios's with no luck.
I returned my board and cpu and now I'm shopping for replacements.
I am really struggling to figure out what to do. I have a very nice 6800gt and so I'm not excited to move to the DFI nForce4 board. It seems like the nForce3's are hard to find (at least the Neo Platinum2's).
I want to run it with my new LightSpeed. But it seems weird. The Winchesters don't like the cold, but run almost as fast as the Newcastles on stock air cooling. So do I park the LS and stay on air, or camp where I am at for now (754 pin, 3200+ on air at 2.4ghz) and hope the vendors figure out the root-cause to the cold issue.
Oh, what to do?

I've tried EVERY bios I could find, won't even post with 2x512 UTT's. Same CPU, same UTT's did 255 HTT 1:1 on MSI K8T Neo2, but K8N.. no way. I'm stuck with my 2x256 BH-5's. I really would need a gig of mem :(

What are the opinions on the best BIOS to use with the LightSpeed? 1.5x or 1.51?
Can I flash bios while under the phase cooler or should I do first when on air cooling? (Given the cold glitch...)
I'm thinking that I'll run it in for a while on air cooling. Flash the bios, run it some more, and then move it over to the cold... :D.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Bios 1.5x worked well for me with my LS.
Damn IT!!! Got a Vapo PE & Vapo Classic yet they're both sitting there gathering dust now that I've got 3200/3500 Winnies:mad::mad:...
Both are 0451 CBBID models, can't remember the other letters but they're not that bad on air.... Well, the 3500+ can do 2.6GHz & the 3200+ can do 2.5Ghz... That's a lot better than the last few I've had....
Suckers just won't do the right thing under sub-zero temps... I've been through 3 x 3200+ & 3 x 3500+ (2 x NC 1 x Winnie) & they all suck hard with sub-zero cooling & K8N neo2...
I've also been through 5 x K8N Neo2's & only 1 of them has been good so far... It's a 0437 model... The others just plain suck...
2 x 0420 & 2 x 0410 K8N Neo2...
Back to watercooling for my main rig & aircooling for my secondary rig...
Even with the 1.5x series bios it doesn't help one bit... P.O.S...IMO...Well, 4 of the Neo2's I've had are anyways...

Sorry to hear of your frustration.
One fellow who was stuck flashed back and forth to 1.5x a couple times and got his system to work. No idea why. A triple-flash workaround.
It's such a pain to pull everything apart to build-up phase cooler only to have it lock-up or reset with the cold glitch.
I think he was flashing with the phase cooler from a bootable cdrom... can't find the link right now...

Hi some time ago there was a great walkthrough on installing xp on the msi neo2, I have spent the last 4 hours trying to find it, there were links from Ocuk to this site but every link just takes me to the first page it no longer takes me to the bit I'm looking for.
I can't remember who wrote it but I think his avatar began with ( R ) it was a very thorough guide which made it virtually impossible to not get it right.
I'm needing it as I have 2 x sata drives which I want to run xp on one and put programs on the other, I had managed to do it but can't remember how, my mate came round and in his wisdom played with my bios then it said something like no operating system, I disconected the drive with my programs on then the remaining drive with xp on it works fine, I have tried various options but it no longer works with the 2 drives.
I know less than nothing about raid so I'm a bit stuck to say the least.
If someone knows where the thread is I would be pleased to death.
