What is the best Opteron Overclock on stock volts. Mainly talking about 146's here but any Socket 939 Opteron should help. :toast:
The reason I ask is because I have an Opteron that is PrimeStable (40 Minutes no errors) at 2920MHz on stock volts. I will try for SuperPi 32M later, but right now I just want to know what is the best 146 overclock on stock Vcore. :D

But I had some really bad luck with my Venice. LBBLE 0516 FPAW. Didnt even do 2.7GHz on 1.7V, and barely managed 2.6GHz on 1.6V. What a shocker of a chip. But this has renewed my faith is AMD. :D
My Opteron 144 is a real shocker, only does about 2450mhz on stock volts. It's a CABNE as well, i thought they all did like 2700mhz with stock.

default volts on a dfi board will show as 1.36V in cpu-z, youre putting 1.45V through that
Yeah I meant default Vcore as set in BIOS, not read by CPUz. I dont trust CPUz as it is always a fair bit off for me. :)

Mine runs quite cool actually, about 33c on my watercooling with 1.5v 2610mhz. My X2 3800+ does 37c with similar volts and mhz.Quote:

Well, I think most/all of these "default" vcores are anything but. 1.4v under load isn't default. 1.35 is sometimes default depending on chip, and under load you'd be lucky to have 1.35v going through the chip on any mobo even if your opty's default vcore is the higher 1.4v.
Anyway, since I can't use anything but default on my ASRock I'll give you a real oc on default volts. Dual Core Opty 170 does 2.5Ghz (10x250) easily and that's on Scythe Ninja with a sub 1000 rpm fan blowing on it and a sub 1000 rpm fan exhausting hot air from the system. Haven't tried higher yet.

its pretty clear that the title says "Stock Volts". that means no 1.36 (1.40 in bios) and up. mine is priming now @ 2.7ghz 1.31v (set to auto in bios), ill post a screenshot in the morning.
LOL .. Ok .. Vapo it is so temps were helping before a Vcore bump. Other are doing some great work there ... later ;)
