Doubt it would be Nvidia. Wouldn't that create a monopoly in in discrete graphics cards?

No worse than a monopoly on CPUs; tit-for-tat as far as the DOJ would be concerned. You don't see people crying foul about the monopoly of the CPUs used in the next gen consoles.

Nvidia could buy AMD but not ATI. ATI would have to stay. Or rather it would have to split back off into ATI again.

Merging ATI and Nvidia would only just barely equal the market share by Intel alone. I stand by what I said; AMD is an acquisition target; either by a private firm or some one like nVidia. To be honest buying them after their stock tanks Q1 2012 would be cheaper than trying to work a deal with Intel for an x86 liscense

Those are skewed numbers.

The IGP in your 2500K counts in that chart.

Why would somebody buy AMD for their x86 license? As I recall, the license is void if a holder is purchased by another company. Of course, the same thing was supposedly true of if AMD didn't manufacture CPUs themselves anymore too, but they still make x86 products. *unsure*

This is some serious s...

I always liked AMD... i had a XP that i loved... and past the Athlon FX series because of the price and went intel...

Since then i've been waiting for my comeback to AMD side... because i believed they really put effort into the products.

Now... if this is true ( and there's no reason to believe these aren't true facts ) ... i get a chilly feeling that they may collapse at any time ( in the cpu department ).

I mean... if they have put some really good effort into BD ... this could really mean the comeback instead of the generalized frustration it become. And if the main reasons of this generalized frustration is the fact that AMD doesn't provide time, resources & working environment to their engineers ... now ... that's really sad. Sad because i feel i've been "supporting" ( not buying though ... but always waiting for their success ) a bunch of lies ...

I believe it was exempted when AMD and Intel settled on the law suit. AMD had them by the genitals I believe, as they said they would pull the 64bit license, lol.

Apple doesn't make any hardware... every hardware you buy from them is made and most of the time also designed by a 3rd party company after the specs from apple... the onyl thing apple really makes is software...

From what I remember AMD still owned 51% of GF, which allows them to keep the license since they are the controlling interest in the company that makes the CPUs. It is technicality on the license that lets them keep it.

Sorry man, but your wrong. Apple main focus, now, is product design. Along with product design, comes UX, user interaction and of course, software.
