Locating nVidia reference board numbers

After scratching my head for days to try to ease consumer confusion with all the different revisions available for reference VGA boards, I inspected a board and found the revision number printed just below the nVidia logo. Once the board revisions numbers (P891, P892, etc..) are made public, it then becomes relatively easy (need magnifying glasses depending on your age) to identify the boards by simply looking this up:

I hope this helps. Now all is left is for all OEM vendors to identify which reference board their solutions are compatible with. Swiftech is.

The question becomes, how in the heck does one cool these cards? Will they still be compatible with the core blocks? Is it just a layout change or did the hole pattern around the core change a bit?

Yes all fine with core only blocks :)

Well at least now we can clearly identify board revisions.

Step 1. Order Card
Step 2. Read card for code
Step 3. Order block :)

I'm sure the watercooling companies (e.g. leaders like Swiftech) will be more diligent about publicising this information!

It would make the Swiftech 285 unisink useless though. Here's the thread and a pic of mine if you haven't seem it before:

Any idea when we can expect the revised version?

Fortunately I found this thread absent mindly surfing around just hours after I placed the order for my Unisink. Luckily Alex at petras was on the ball and was able to modify my order before it went out.

So I'm stuck aircooling in the meantime until the revised version hits shelves. as quality as the EK blocks are I really want to save some $$ and keep using my MCW60..

Maybe I can hack up my GTX260 65nm unisink for an "in the mean time" solution.... (or not :ROTF:)

Theres a pic of the diff PCB's bare but you can tell if you look in the end of the cooler as the little silver capacitors are in a totally different place from the old to the new PCB's.

Well color me really disappointed.

I see gabe mentioned new unisinks are in the works above. I hope they come soon. I really wanted to get my card into my loop as soon as I got it.

Guess I'll be running aircooled until they get something out. I'm considering just buying the EK block so I can just be done with it already.:down:

Lol im in the same boat dude and i even went as far as getting the block before the card so have to now try send it back and get a new one.

Well my 285 came in and of course it's an old model just as I expected.

I just swapped the new card in and now it's the loudest thing in my office and I'm just surfing XS :rolleyes::ROTF:

We need a Unisink for these new PCBs stat! My ears beg of you! :D

Good info. I'm also interested in the potential availability of blocks for the new ATI 4890 non-reference designs (e.g. Sapphire 4890 Toxic and Vapor-X versions) - which I just realized does not fall into the nVidia subject of this post - oops.

It's gotta be crazy for the manufacturers to keep up with all these changing versions.
