How do the plates attach onto the cards?

I've got some spare thin plexi lying around and you've inspired me to start thinking of trying to make a simple (very simple) version of those cool plates for myself.

Tape 2 side sticking, only on rims ;)

they only that inscriptions are engraved by laser ;)
