XSPC Edge V2 Pics + Discussion Thread
-
Thx for sharing mate :D
It looks GOOOODDDDD :D
-
So they used the original Edge base. This should make it cheap and hopefully will perform on par with the Edge.
-
-
Yeah I mean the other side so I guess I should have said copper fins. Hmm what are the opinions on the base? I was under the impression it would be better to have maximum contact with the IHS.

i was hoping it had the same big circle area for maximum contact with the cpu

hi bex, nice of you to drop in, what do you mean better than v2 in some cases?
-
Awesome! They left out the acrylic for less chance of cracking after time, now it's a metal hold down plate and delrin top, wondeful! I hope that with this stepped base it'll perform even better than the old design...
-
Stepped is better than flat! This should be a good performer on current CPU's. May be an issue with the Nehalem...Only IMO...
-
wound be nice if i could get my hands on a clear normal edge, to see if what difference it is,
as i could go and test then use martins results but it wound be unfair, as i have completely different setup :D but if i did every go to the states in the next few weeks, (i'm not but if someone pays i may) i wound drop in :D

Agreed. The contact surface now may be too small for Nehalem.

On the xspc site it is named Delta V3.
-
what sort of performance are we likely to get out of this - doesnt it just look like the design of a normal air cooler, but water running over it (tightly spaced high density fins, not pins?).
just wondering..
-
this block is different design to the delta V3 i will post up the details of what is different soon, it looks the same but it is'bt
-
Very nice!
The biggest issues I saw with the V2 was the acrylic top and flat base, both are fixed in this iteration.
-
Looks really good. So many good blocks out there now to build systems around.

i don't know what is happing with the other 21, i will send an email over to paul at XSPC to try get more info bout difference and so on :D
-
three reasons :D i'm not buying a NEHA cpu yet nor will i till about this time next year, 2nd reason, new bit of bling and 3rd reason why not :D

Why not, Q6600 in the system..;)
Actually, that base is alot bigger than you think. The V2 is a full 2" diameter, so that step is probably plenty big enough...not sure though. I believe niksub1 determined about a 23mm square was perfect for todays processors.
-
martin how you know i got a Q6600 :D and yes martin the base fits most of the cpu

Better than the DD V2 ;)
And Delta V3 is a totally different block - newer version of the Delta although that's still a work in progress ;)
