Contemplating adding AC/Chiller to my setup......

Its based upon a car radiator in a window-currently-with fans, but also runs well-enough passive when ambient temps are ~35C/95F. Its built, operational and in use......:up:

I have a low-end Goldstar (~$100) 5,000 BTU window-type AC unit that's about 4 yrs old now. I wouldn't mind replacing it with ~8,000 BTU unit of better quality.

I'm not interested in temps as low as I can get. If I can run 3 Quad PCs OCed at temps consistently in the 30's or low 40's--I'll be happy. :yepp:

So, my first question is: If I seal off the fans in the shroud door and mount the AC in the window---would it work? Or would that little 5K AC be too powerful and just freeze up?

Basically, it would just be recycling the air in the shroud area. The PCs crunch WCG 24/7, so there is a constant heat source.....

When ambient is ~35C/95F highest core temp is ~55C with the fans running. Passive its ~59C. Right now, ambient is ~30C/85F and high temp is ~49C. So, I could pull up to ~25C off of my high temps and be overjoyed! :yepp:

I would only want/need to use this for a few months of the yr, but its a cool excuse for me to buy a bigger unit for this room! :ROTF:

Can anybody offer any insight into how well this might work.....? :shrug:

sealing it off is an idea but you could just dunk the evap into the res and try to control it so it doesnt take the water below the due point, cos below that ull have to start unsulating and on that amount of piping it will be a task,
