Peltier Q's

Hi,

I purchased a 183w 40x40 peltier for my rig. I am cooling via water cooling (see here: here )

1)Where can i get the supplies i need (neoprene, grease, cold plate, anything else i need) ?
Any that are in Canada? or cheap to ship to Canada?

2)What kind of temps am i looking at for my e6300 oc to 3.2ghz?

3)Will i need to insulate my nb and gpu waterblock if my cpu waterblock has a peltier and they are all on the same line?

4) I have read that the cold plate and the peltier, and waterblock should be clamped tightly together... how is one to do that?

5) any pictures of peltier mounts, setups would be great.

6) do you insulate the back of the motherboard behind the cpu?

7) what thickness of neoprene should i go for?

8) will i be able to run this peltier with the psu i have for the system?

your temps will be fine for stock but no room for OC.
your tec moves 172w of heat and your chip will put off about 102w of heat. when you add in the pump and everything else in the water loop your talking a lot of heat for the rad to remove.

no you only have to insulate around the cold side of the tec

hehe that is the fun part. you just have to figure something out. if you post pics and such then people will give you there ideas on this task

yes you should insulate the back side of the mobo

you have to use all differnet sizes. a cheap easy way is to get armaflex from home depot

you should never ever do that.
you need a seperat psu for tec no matter what, but you should not put it on a pc psu because they are not rated for the amount of power the tec will draw through it and can catch it on fire.

Why wouldnt my psu be suffiencient? It has 60Amps on a single 12v rail. Thats more then enought for a 183 watt peltier. out of the 750watts 700 watts goes to the 12v line.

Also, would i need to put grease in the socket as well?

you have enough amps on that rail for the tec but is the wires made bit enough to hold that much at a constent. The stuff posted on the side of a pc psu is the max of what it can reach not what it is able to run for hrs at a time.

Also consider your 60A statement. your mobo, cpu, and ram are going to draw amps. look at the HDD and the cdroms. they are all taking away form that 60A.

I didn't say you cant try it but if you do it is at your own risk.

if i get a meanwell 320w psu, how does it automatically power up with the rest of the computer?

you can buy a relay from swiftech that will plug it all in together. Go here and click thermalelectric cooling then click auxiliary PSU kit. There is a nice pic of it there.

is there anywhere i can get it for cheaper? Performances PCS has it for $89 but not the relay. Could i purchase the relay seperate from somewhere else?

Is there no where that sells neoprene that isn't on the internet? Like home depot or lowes etc?

@vio1 I would recommend using google. if you message swiftech they sell the relay separate and you can look on ebay for the meanwell.

@biglipzit I am not really sure. I know you can get armaflex from home depot or lows and it work just fine. but to get sheets of neoprene I am not sure. I am sure if you look around you may find some.
