Nvidia France about penryn support

I know there is already thread about that but I believe this is a first "official" information. If need moderator, add to already existant thread on the subject.

Quick translation: according to Nvidia France:

Only wolfdale will be support by nforce 650i Sli and 680i Sli.
It is need to add some components on board in order to use production yorkfield that was not necessary to add for ES sample.

Nvidia confirms support of all penryns for 7.. chipsets but that the Nforce 7 boards are late due to a need of design change for all the motherboard maker.

According to nvidia, MCP73 should accept all penryns

nvidia demonstrates how to find the looser button in the chipset market yet again... intel chipset sales go up and up and up:p:

lets hope future nvidia chipsets turn out better again, would suck to have no competition anymore.

If I was Intel, I'd try very hard to tweak "something" in the next stepping at 45nm cpu in order to make their life harder on 7 series, such as lower performance compared to X38. Nothing personal, purely business. ;)

This at least or "hopefully" will affect the SLI fever.

Luckily, I'm not Intel. :D

and as a counter nvidia would make Intel out of the game by not letting any gfx of them run on a intel chipset or CPU....

In other words your wish ain't going to happen.

I guess you forget the obvious thing, GPU is a piece brick without a CPU. :D

90% or even more of PC population don't need ultra leet highend GFX to be functional, guess you never know how many mobos produced with integrated GFX eh ?

Benchers & hardcore gamers are only a really itty bitty "minority" of the sales they've made, talking bout thinking "out of the box" eh ?

Far as i know, nowt Nvidia or i, will run YF 45nm at all as to right now. Intel did something but thats not to say a driver hack for the chipset or BIOS will stop it now is there!

Well Intel got :banana::banana::banana::banana:ty when AMD bought ATI and it would be best personly for AMD/ATI to run as there name sake now.

Nvidia has sort shat on there own door step with Intel over the SLI issue of drivers and other things. Smart move with what was put forward but bad as no way was it going to be agreeded too.

However do not forget Intel has a GPU coming of which they worked with Nvidia on it!

Not forgetting that recently Nvidia have just started testing the G80 GPU as a CPU and the fact folding can already run on GPU's!

Winds of change are about big time it seams and bomb shells are dropping!

Intel will not fail, AMD/ATI will, it's very very evident that.

Intel are the one that are giving us 90% of what we want, Uber CPU, Uber cheap, Chipsets that work amazingly need i say more to what we have off AMD as of right now . . . .nah didnt think so.

Just look around at the persoanl useage of memembers here and you will see whats more favord and what works like it should

On the Asus support page it lists the P965 boards all support Yorkfield chips, this sucks, not gonna buy an nvidia board ever again!

And what's the benching and gaming world ? 3-5% of the computer market ?

You better hope AMD doesn't fail. Or intel won't be too pleasing to anyone for long.

Besides, I think personal usage of members around here isn't much to go by, because back when AMD was king 90% here had AMD. Intel sure didn't go away.
