That purchase by the Dubhie's is starting to make sense. They might not have anyone one the board, but a couple hundred million bucks gives you some clout.

Next fud article will read "New Intel marketing chief to be announced monday!"

I wouldnt wish this idiot on my worst enemy.

Look at all that stock! He became CEO on my birthday
For all the things he's done for AMD, his compensation should be 1/10 of that.

how many people in this thread actually read the link??
"TheStreet.com now reports that sources are telling it that AMD CEO Hector Ruiz is possibly stepping down from his post"
"However, reports say that there is no set time frame for a change of power at AMD. "
i read it and understood it, we will find out for sure april 28 2008
Yeah so great news !!!!!
but maybe we won't see AMD logo on Ferrari anymore
Hector had no part in K8 while he was CEO....
K8 pretty much sold itself because it was a Killer architecture.
Everything under Hector's watch has gone downhill....need I say more?
In terms of the K8 being a good product, yes... and when AMD got to the point they could deliver in volume, it really made a difference.
However, I would tend to disagree ... in part. Hector orchistrated bringing AMD out of the doldrums of being a second rate supplier to a credible player. He pushed the customer centric culture and philosophy and under his watch penetrated markets AMD has never ever been before.
That does not mean his departure would not be a good thing, the current strategy of market share at all costs is driving the company into the ground.
exactly...his philosophy is MARKET SHARE! well, that's all dandy and went in his favor when he had a competing product to work with. It's not hard to gain market share when your product is superior to the competition.
The true test of a CEO is how he/she manages a company in hard times. What choices are made? how a CEO keeps a company afloat during hard times...
BUT Hector has not shown such leadership, i'm sorry to say. He doesn't want to adjust his strategy and is stuck with the market share philosophy.... Well this clearly shows that unless he has a competing product, he can't do didly squat.
I think we are on the same page.... it is easy to navigate a company to success when your flagship product is second to none.
However, the strategies post-success failed to really take advantage of the momentum he had going into a 'down' period, and frankly the scortched earth pricing policy was the wrong thing to do to remain healthy.
My opinion is Hector aspired to grow big too fast. I think the Toyota model would have been more appropriate.
In other news:
After hearing the news of Hector Ruiz being replaced, AMD employees started several bonfires in the parking lot with office furniture accompanied with much rejoicing.
What has Hector Ruiz done really? AMD has fallen, is it Hector's fault? I blame Intel for that!
