Just jumped in on the Fry's $119 E4300 deal. No matter what I do, I can't get the fsb to exceed 350. It is the same even when it is on 6x multiplier. Does anybody have the same issue?
Does the BSEL mod work for the DS3 motherboards?

i've read about this around diffrent places , on the gigabyte and 4300, many haveing problem reaching high fsb :/
could very well be a fsb wall on the cpu, i would try to see if you could test the cpu in another mobo that is known to overclock decent and see if you can get over 350 fsb on a different mobo, if not, you just have a cpu that can't do it.
this is a very common FSB wall for E4300 and DS3. I have the same issue. There's another thread on this same forum about it, too.
I just bought a Gigabyte DS3 v3.3 and a E4300. It can go above 350 with no problems, I only have tried 400 FSB though. I haven't played with the settings very much yet, so I don't know how high I can go.
First try setting your vcore to 1.5 (then you can try lowering it), fix the PCI-E to 100, and disable C1E and EIST. Also make sure your mem can do +800mhz.
However, I changed the northbridge heatsink with a HR-05 SLI, the southbridge with a Zalman heatsink.
Also the jmicron controller and the ICS (next to the battery) gets pretty hot too, so I have ramsinks on them. (And my case ventilation is good).
I don't think there is a FSB wall. I think is either the settings or the NB/SB/ICS are getting too hot.
Here are the pics of my bios settings, the things I changed on the MB and CPU-Z

I have 2 x 1 GB of Buffalo Firestix PC6400 @ 2.1v (seems like D9GMH), I haven't played very much with the timings yet.

HR-05 SLI on NB, Zalman on SB, ramsinks on ICS and Jmicron.

Might try higher later =)
why are you running single channel??
Because I forgot to put the ram in the correct slots lol. I changed them, thanks :DQuote:

Wow thanks for the screenshots and pic. I tried those settings before on mine but no go and I have DDR800 ram. I also have fans on my northbridge and south bridge. Temperature is not a problem on my setup. But no matter what, it is limited to around 360mhz. What bios version are you using and what is the week of your cpu? Mine is a week 41a. Did you get yours from Frys? If so, which store?
I have the same DS3 rev3.3 and E4300 and my max FSB is about 370. This is a VERY cpommon occurance with these two pieces of hardware. I have asked around ALOT and only have come across 1 single instance of someone getting over the 400FSB mark with these two. and have heard dozens of stories of people in the same boat as we are.
Everyone who bought the E6XXX CPU's get FSB's of close to 500!
I'm running BIOS F10. That pic was before installing the vid card :)Quote:
What BIOS ver you running? And you have no vid card
My stepping is Q644A489. I got everything from Newegg.Quote:

By the way I found another thread with someone with almost the same config as me (DS3 + E4300 + Buffalo Firestix) doing 400FSB here:Quote:

DS3 Cant do more than 350 x 9 ? Take a Look plz :)
I have done some further testing.
It won't boot at 400FSB x 9 (I guess my cpu won't do 3.6ghz)
It boots at 400 x 8
It won't boot at 400 x 7
It boots at 400 x 6
So I relaxed the mem timings, set the multiplier at 6 and tried to go higher. I could go only up to 410 FSB. Well I can set 415 FSB ONLY if I set 400-410 first. If I go straight from 200 to 415 it won't boot (weird isn't it?). 420 won't boot. Tried higher like 450-500 with no luck.
I haven't tried lower either. When I first tried to OC I went directly from 200 to 401 FSB (1.5vcore and +0.3 mem), then I lowered to 400 FSB and stayed there (vcore is now at 1.475v).
Hope it helps!
Thanks SirBlackJack. I seemed to exhaust every possible configuration but no luck. The F11b is even worst than the F11A bios.
