DS3 Cant do more than 350 x 9 ? Take a Look plz :)

Hey Guys,

Im having a hard time with my Rev 1 DS3 Bios F10 with my E4300 and Buffalo Firestix 2GB

i can boot 350 x 9 @ stock volts orthos stable

but after that i cant do nothing.

I didn't change any settings except the ones that need to be disable to stop the multi dropping.

i would really like to run my ram higher with lower multi i prefer 400 x 8 but i cant see to get it. i tried 400 x 7 that didnt work.

what exactly can i change to get this to boot. my northbright has a 40mm on it and have a 120mm fan blowing onto it.

any ideas would be awesome

i can post exactly what i have in bios if you need it.

everything is bascially on normal / auto except

Ram is +3v
and i have ram running 1:1 350 x 9 1.325v stock

whats vmch set to

how about pcie freq

You need to define didn't work more accurately.

Doesn't boot? Freezes? Or what else is going on. Also, have you ensured you that memory is stable at those frequencies?

Try a higher Tras; 15 or 16 at least.

I was under the assumption the E4300 had a 350mhz fsb wall

it just doesnt boot black screen, when i save settings it shut off and then on and just doesnt boot
memory should be able to do 400 they are buffalo d9's

20 hours stable runs fine @ 3.1 just i rather have ram higher and have it @ 3.1 etc

hmm think its my E4300? or the Ds3 ?

ill try and boot in @ 355 x 9 to see if i can get in

i see you still have pcie freq on auto... try 105 110

and set ram too instead of keeping divider to auto. use 2.00x

I still have my old DS3 rev 1 lying around... I could never get more than about 350 or so fsb stable as well, on my e6400. Im going to eventually sell it and get a revision 3.3 or a p5b-e

do as ziddy said but i will also add that this 350mhz range is a known hole for so many conroe boards. and has been known to be so for a long time now.

dont even mess around trying to inch your way up.

slam the vcore to 1.5 (just for now)
gmch is fine on auto
vdimm on +3 should be fine, 400mhz is only 800mhz ram
lock the pci-e at 110mhz
lock the ram divider at +2.00

thats it, crank it to 400 FSB and reboot.

p.s.

i dont believe for one second that the 4300's have a FSB wall.
the FSB of an Intel is not part of the cpu itself, although the bus speed is and if it cant handle a higher bus speed then yes, i suppose its possible but we have seen this stuff before, in the celerons, and it was 200mhz FSB, but the trick was, was to slam it past that and so many of them would run just fine.
and the conroes, as i stated have had a hole around 350mhz, and all that was need was going beyond it.

ram divider +2.00 is 1:1 ?

never knew pci-e freq had an affect on ocing lol

well i booted in @ 3.6

with pci-e 110 Vcore 1.5, 400 x 9, 5-5-5-5-15 (firestix rated timings) but i added vmch +1

now im going to try 105 pci-e, 1.35vcore , 400 x 9, 5-5-5-15 vmch+1

thing about ds3 is that on normal, it'll autoraise vmch. so when you hit 400, i've measured normal to be +0.3v.

running 400 x 8 1.4v 4-4-4-12 2.1
i tried 450 x 8 1.4 didnt work :p
maybe ill run 450 x 7 and see if i can boot with smaller vcore

everything is on normal

i have gmch normal , pcie- freq 100, 2.00 divider, 400 , 8x. 1.4v

runnning orthos now so far didnt freeze

those firestix should handle 500mhz easy. i'd say 400fsb is best for performance though. you won't see northbridge get to the same overclock until 466fsb again, but even then it's still a little lacking in latency. however, you'd get more memory bandwidth. so either 8x400 or 7x466

so leave 400 x 8 ? and work on lowering the vcore if stable ?

figure running the ran higher = better performance lol
