I want to create this thread to post a few results of my overclocking experience with my 9950. Please feel free to post yours up :toast:

chicken patty, nice results ..the 9950 seems to be a true competitor for the q6600
well what i like about the results is how great of an impact it makes by just slightly overclocking the cpu. this is 3dmark and real games probualy wouldn't have as great of an impact but it really shows something. 700 more points from 2.6ghz to 2.8ghz in 3dmark.
Thanks dude. I dont know yet as I have not tweaked it much but my 9850 was a really good overclocker, I think i Just abused it too much before I got to do any real testing with it. This chip doesn't seem to be as good of a clocker, but like I said, still testing it, I just got this one today, I returned my first one.Quote:

my cpu score seems off a little, cant seem to get real high mhz and keep it stable in 3d06,3d03 works better
thats a great SUper Pi run, however the score in 3dmark does seem to be off, at 3150 MHz I did 48xx in 3dmark 06 as far as cpu goes.Quote:

U can try compare Cinebench and effect NB at one frequency CPU (CPU about 2.6GHz, NB from 1800, 2000, 2200, 2400MHz)
I've been thinking about that too. i want to start some testing to see the effects of northbridge speeds and acc settings with the cpu set at say 3200 mhz. what do say chicken patty,its your thread but we could probably all share some useful info. i do want to try spi 1m and wprime32 and maybe a bench called geekbench(good multithread bench that seems to push a phenom).Quote:

Ive found,,
Stock CPUnbvolts = 1.3v up to 3.2ghz and say 2400mhz.
3.2/2000-2500 with 1.35vCPUnb
3.3/2000-2500 with 1.36vCPUnb
3.4/2000-2600 with 1.36v-1.4vCPUnb
3.5/2650-2700 with 1.55vCPUnb(max volts) My max stable.
By looking above ,, 2450mhz at any given CPU freqency with minamal xtra volts is ideal..
Of coarse this was with SB600:D The Volts will be about the Same with 9950/SB750 for CPUNB..The CPU is main factor for NBvolts..Now a 750chipset( CPUnb to SBchipset) will be a little lower because the SB750 does a better job.
Hope that made sense..
Your Cooling will determin the overall Oc.
I just Try to find Max CPU clock @2200nb before raising the CPUNBvolts.. More CPUnbvolts will allow the CPU to Clock higher...Raise the CPUnb and Scale the Volts in Slow increments to find its max. Then Turn the NB back down to say 2200mhz with the Higher Volt setting.
Next try rasing the CPU clock Higher while keeping the CPUnb @2200mhz. You probally will be able to hit 3.4ghz no prob. For me to achieve 3.5ghz i have to run CPUNBvid @1.45v+ and above 2200mhz NB or 3.5ghz wont work. Each chip is differant. Ive found the Higher the Phenom goes the Nb seems best when raised a little above stock ,,Goes in hand with the extra CPU clocks//CPU performance.

on each succesive series raise nb by 200 and change acc +2. i'm curious how much variation there is between cpu and possibly board bios's on how they react. notice it took 1.3875 volts on my cpu. i had to set it there to run prime32. it seems to me other people are able to achieve higher clocks on less voltage but how stable are the clocks.

just for kicks, here is a screenie of the temps i'm getting now that the thermal compound is more settled in. CPU is water cooled with a Koolance dual fan radiator and thermal take pump & reservoir. THe rad has 2 120mm fans pushing thru it.
My computer is also outside of a case, as you see in my avatar so that helps with everything staying much cooler, room temps is also pretty cool.

Use CPU-z to see CPU clocks and HT speed, mem test for timings and NB speed in the top right hand corner

Now I upped the NB Multiplier from x10 to x11, NB is now at 2200 MHz.
I forgot to run CineBench with the NB at default. So I ran it at x11 and then from now on we just compare with the rest.

to 2800CPU and 2400HT/NB gave me up to 20% gains in some benches.

ok some info I have gathered. So far by only upping the NB from stock 2.0 GHz to 2.4 GHz we saw almost 1/2 sec. drop in super PI, about a 27 point increase in 3dmark 06 cpu score, which when running the whole test would actually give you a bigger difference with the CPU feeding more to the video card (s).
In Cinebench, I didn't run it at a 2.0 GHz NB speed, however from a 2.2 GHz to a 2.4 GHz NB speed it increased 2291 points in the multiple CPU test, and 510 in the single CPU test. Last but not least, 52 points in the open GL benchmark.
Ok, now the NB speed back to default (2.0 GHz), but upped the multi from x13 to x14. Result is, CPU at 2.8 GHz. All voltages at default, actually CPU is under default as it is @ 1.296v, out the box it runs at 1.316v.
I owe you guys the cinebench one, I'll leave it running tonight, and tomorrow morning before heading off to work, i'll post it up, Just don't want to wait for it

Hi guy been working on a ACC setting, my 9850 has a weak core it number 4 . I have to bump it up +10% to make core 4 run stable running over 3.0 ghz the trouble is after i run the pc for a bit trun it off will not like to reboot when clock over 3.ghz at 3.0 and lower no trouble . With the +10%
on core 4 clock over 3.0ghz the cpu run prime np the AOD stabiliy
dam hit the botton to soon hear some screen shot running aod stability as i post this got any ideas on reboot trouble ?

ACC can cause reboot issues for some reason. I've experienced the problem on both a Gigabyte MA790GP and an ASUS M3A79-T. I also tried tweaking the ACC settings on the cores, but it didn't seem to work for my kit, so I just set it on 'auto'........works fine now........boots every time.:DQuote:

Thxs River Ricer if i use auto it stuck at 3.0 ghz with one core on the cpu out to lunch i have to bump it to +10% in ACC for the weak core to run stable over 3.0 ghz .I think this is why my 9850BE never ran good with adding more volts trying to raise clock speed up that one core would just go unstable bring down the rest of the cpu with it .Now that i have ACC to work with it helping me to bring the that one weak core inline with the 3 good ones . I been running 3.107ghz all day playing games than doing some stability testing why crusing the forums . I'am also running highter volts on the cpu (1.45) than i have in the pass i think that may have been the key (I have been a :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: when it came to running higher volts on my air cool cpu)

Try lowering "Max Read Latency" using Memset. You should be able to get it down to at least 50 and it will give a pretty decent performance boost.Quote:

no problem dude. My RAM doesn't like tighter timings, It crashed shortly after, I put the timings back to SPD and the computer is fine now. I don't want to push the voltage past 2.3v neither, I don't have money right now for new RAM hehe. I will be getting some new one soon though, so it'll only get better.Quote:

I'm running 1066 Reapers that are rated @ 2.1-2.3v's. I tried everything in that range and eventually discovered that the higher I went the more unstable it became. Long story short (after MUCH testing), I found that the optimal Mem voltage on my machine was 2.0v.. :eek:
I'm not sure what the cause is, board overvolting or maybe a weak module, but it might be something worth trying out on your system.
to run them at 1066 I need 2.1v at 2.0 or anything lower it won't boot. Unless it takes 2.4v??? Thats the most i'm willing to go, if it don't work with 2.4v, its going back to spd timings and 2.1vQuote:

one question: why are you pushing HTT when you have unlocked CPU? Why not woirking around for getting the stable 17x200, instead of pushing HTT?
