Fast Write off did help with my OC actually, however it decreased my benchmarks for some odd reason. Only one it helped in was Aquamark, which is the one i had been having the most bizarre stuff happening to.
Side panal is off, i'll grab a fan, but this is the coolest it's been in my office for months, so ambient is pretty nice at the moment.
I'm still waiting on an answer to that annoying Nvidia IDE RAID screen. Does everyone have this, and no one can get rid of it? Again, 1.36 BIOS, and it was on the default 1.1 that came with my board. I'm not sure if my issues with the gfx are motherboard, or card related. But my overclock was stable in my intel, which leads me to beleive maybe i'm missing something?

i've noticed the Northbridge on this board is not flat and the heatsink only makes about 10% contact. will this effect the HTT overclocking? i could put more thermal compound to get a contact or viod the warrenty and lap it.

Your lucky at 10%

If you lapped it or even changed it, providing you sent it back with the right cooler on, whos going to know?
I doubt they check.
I suppose you could say keeping it cooler should make it last longer ;)

Anyone know how many diff revisions are there for neo2 ?? I just got mine 4 days ago and i dont think AGP lock is working , even if i set it at 67mhz.
My system crashes even with just 210fsb and when it reboots the windows error message says the problem was with the 6800gt. The board runs rock solid with stock settings with my FX55. My ram is Corsair PC3500c2(2-3-3-7 rating, BH5) and yes it crashes at those timings too with 2T. Should i RMA the mobo or what?

Check the AGP is locking by running clockgen. I assume clockgen is correct as it follows the AGP speed set in the BIOS. Now PCI lock always stays at about 33Mhz so either that is a correct reading or it is not reading correctly, however I was testing at 100Mhz AGP last night ( I have an nvidia 6800 which does not mine this ) and if the PCI was not locked then I assume that 100/2 = 50Mhz would have caused my hard drive to fail ( or maybe I was lucky ).
Anyhow, that is a good first step.

Andy
which tccd for this board??
what is avarage the best one?
you could wait for the new voltage-loving TCCD to show up in the stores :)

so it won't help me to much...
should i go for ADATA Vitesta pc4000 CL3-4-4-8 for 200€
or for better ram(tccd) for something 270-300€??
and which tccd? geil,ocz,corsair,pqi,g.skill,etc?

Not sure if you guys have experienced this before or not but i'll throw it out there in hopes someone has a fix for it or tell me what i'm doing wrong.
I'm having an issue running any form of slave off my master ide1 cable. I can run 1 master np but the second i setup a slave either hd or dvd burner and try and access it within windows it will lock up the system. I've tried different cables and settings. I have the nf3 drivers installed properly as well. I have yet to try and setup a slave on the ide2 but damn i have 4 hd's and a burner i need the ide1 slave to work. Any ideas or similar happenings around here on xs?

Ok, I'm looking to get my Neo2 up and running in the next few days (with an FX-55 and Vapo LS strapped to it :D ) so I've been combing this thread for info. Attempted summary in no particular order (apologies for choosing one link out of many in general):
- Boot board with one DIMM when starting for the first time
- Flash to the 1.36 (1.3b6) or 1.37 or 1.37modded bios:
http://www.weckstrom.com/msibios/
http://www.svcheats.com/MSI_Neo_Plat2_939/beta/
How to hot flash:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=44481
- Use SATA ports 3 & 4 (nearest CPU, these are locked - 1 & 2 are not)
- Set AGP speed to 67 to LOCK PCI
- To maintain performance (and still get dual channel), only use two DIMMs, in slots 1 & 2 (nearest CPU)
- Many people are having good success with BH5 when using 1.36 BIOS or above
- Nearly everyone is having good success with TCCD
- Use DDR Booster in DIMM slot 4 (furthest from CPU). Seen people use upto 4V used with no adverse effects - yet ;)
- With 1.36 BIOS, only use +/- to adjust the HTT speed, don't enter the sub-menu unless you want a blue screen
- Trfc should not be touched by A64 tweaker
- Press Shift+F2, hold and press alt+F3 as well to enter hidden BIOS options
Apologies for the no doubt loads of other stuff missed!

Good list, except I don't think the booster is necessary here. (maybe for BH-5) I would try to get the 3.3 rail up to 3.4 at least for a subtle vdim boost in any case.

Im having a nightmare with this little combo at the moment!!
The MSI Neo2, 3500+ Winchester and OCZ Platinum 3200 Rev.2 (TCCD) work amazingly with the stock cooler, had them upto 225fsb with stock volts and 2-2-2-10.
However, after I'd got the Puppy running I thoughth.. C'mon is Mach II GT time!! I wanna see 3ghz! Then....
...Oh no!! either this Motherboard or this Winnie doesnt like the cold... It simply will not post with the Mach II cooling it! PC Fires up but no boot (cant ofter get to Bios either).
I havent tried flashing the Firmware yet for the Mach II to the 821 Firmware but I will. The reason I dont think the firmware is the issue is because I removed the evap head bu kept the Mach II connected to the PC. Turned the Mach II on, temp dropped to -33.c and then the PC started (I was cooling the CPU with a 92mm Tornado blowing straight at it - no HS ) and the little blighter boots without problem straight into Windows?????
Really strange!!
I know this board is OK with Subzero temps as Ive seen loads of you using it however, I wonder if the Winchester simply cant operate at them?
Anyone able to help??

Is AGP speed connected to PCI on nforce 3 ?
I have been running AGP at 100Mhz and cpu-z reports it correctly, however it stays at 33Mhz for PCI bus. If it was a 2 divider then I assume PCI would be 50Mhz which should have blown my hard drive out.

I've just bought that mobo... really nice, prime stable at 280Mhz FSB by now, and some benchies at 300 but I can only run asyncronous because my KX3000 BH5 can't run syncron  (is it possible?) So I did FSB300 Memo@240 2-2-2 (http://usuarios.lycos.es/krampak/Benchs/240_2-2-2_everest.JPG) for bench. All this with the 1'37 moded bios.
There isn't any option to change the voltage of chipet? I can't find it... 300fsb where did at stock voltages.
PD: If i set vcore to +10% it only gives me 1'60v, is that normal? VID is at 1'55V.
And another thing, how do you know what vdimm you have? I can't find any sensor reading that... (and my ocz ddr booster leds are burned)
i get only to 1,45 by changing it "normally". .. for any higher i need the %

My thoughts would be this. Would do no harm to have a look, but if the goo covers said numbers? think you see the problem :D
The blob method may be OK on CPUs (even though I have never used it) as CPU coolers have real downward force to spread it.
Never a right answer here, as we all have our own ideas.
I just gonna waste some old AS2 on mine. (or even the stuff that comes with some coolers)

I dunno yet.
Prolly rip it off Saturday when I have some time as I am putting it in another case.
Guessing mine will be an early one, as I pre-ordered it in the UK.
I am not over bothered, as I don't have the mega cooling that some users have :(
My experience with these coolers comes from Nforce2 days.
They only had a blob of very strange sticky stuff.

The NB is held on by 2 split pins. I removed mine before I installed the mobo.
I'm sure it should come out without pinching it from the other side. Wish I would have made a note of the numbers before I smeared it with AS and replaced the h/s. Mine had a little bird dropping as well....better than nothing, I guess. :p:

Well using bios 1.36/7 didnt help me with my o/c problems.
AMD64 3500+ 0.13
Neo2
XL Pro 1GB
I cant get it stable no matter what past 220HTT, first i thought its the ram so i ran memtest86+ at 250Mhz 2.5-3-3-7 1T 32 passes on test 1-7 and over 250 passes on test 5
I know its not the cpu as i managed 2.5 HTT250*4HT 10x with ease on 1.55vcore 5:6 divider.
Im not sure basically im down to: XLs having compatibilty issues with Neo2 or dimm 2 or maybe the board is bad as i managed with using 1 stick of ram 2.5Ghz HTT250*4HT 1.55vcore 2.85vdimm 1:1 2.5-3-3-7 1T.
Im thinking of getting new Neo2, well ill check tomorrow by removing the NB maybe that will explain it. Im also getting some OCZ 3700 Gold Rev3 so ill see how they go.
Any suggestions why im having this problems?

Sure do have it set to 67. Yeah but its strange how i can memtest without any errors at 250Mhz and cant even do 230Mhz in winxp.
Dont know im also thinking it might be the psu (Tt 560W) only 28A for +12V.
Im puzzled...

1. NB sink is usually held on w/2 'squeeze' pins. Must use needlenose pliers or forceps (locking tweezers) from the BACK of the board- squeeze together and push though board.
2. Remove the 'lack' of stuff w/ rubbing alcohol, then airgun to remove dust and blow stuff from UNDER the chip (YES there is a slight gap, since these are mounted using Ball grid methods.)
3. Silver ANYTHING is an NO-NO! :bsod: Possible conductive, staining, and capacitance issues (LEAVE EVIDENCE AND VOIDS WARRANTY).
Use Artic alumina or Ceramique, avoids above problems.
4. If you decide to lap, use 220 -> 400 sandpaper: more is not relevant here due to issue listed in (5). May help some though, especially to remove anodizing (insulator) surface contacting chip.
5. Use the razor blade method :slash: (no not that one) to get a relatively even distribution of compound on the chip since (NF2/3) tops resemble dinner plates more than a flat surface. Check that you have enough by mounting w/o pushing pins back through MB, then add small drop xtra in the middle and do final mounting and pin push-through.
Should notice that NB is much warmer now if done badly b4. Shows that the NB HSF is doing it's job - dissapating heat.
End of class, certificates are to be found in you MB boxen. :D

This board is really giving me a headache
I installed my new system yesterday, and all worked for a little while. It seemed very slow booting, and sometimes it did not want to proceed from the first screen, Platinum, requiring a restart. It usuallt booted on a second attempt.
I upgraded the bios to modded 1.37. After this it wont recognise any USB devices (keyboard and mouse attached).
I now tried to do a reinstall after flashing back to 1.36 bios. I attached my floppy, press F6 when XP setup is initialized, but when I am requested to put in my sata floppydisk, the pc can't read the disk. Seems like either my floppy is dead (seems to work ok according to lights and noice) or the MB can't communicate with it. (similar to usb devices).
Questions:
1. What is wrong with the USB?
2. How can I install sata drivers for XP without floppy?
3 Is the board dead?
My ram is OCZ PC 3200 512MB EL Dual CH Platinum rev.2 (only one stick of 512mb installed now), CPU is Winchester 3200+, Samsung 1614C sata disk.
Pls help!

Have you got the USB bracket with the D-bracket thing plugged in, if you have try unplugging it (both USB and diagnostic thing) and just use the USB ports beneath the PS2.

Hi
Strange problem here! Earlier today i benched a bit with 3,65V Vdimm and it works fine
so far. Then i rebooted and take the 3,3V back to standard an
put down the the sys. to 10 x 260 166 divider for ram. Then i surfed
a bit on inet and after 5 min. i get an Bluescreen. Booted again and everytime before
Win is ready i get that bluescreen or an reboot! I've tested all different
Timings / dividers / HTT / all on standard, but no way to go into win...
With one stick in slot one i have no problems. Memtest works fine with both
Sticks over 5 passes @ dualchannel using slot 1&2, but no chance to boot win.
If i will boot with only one stick in Slots 2 or 4 the sys wont start, just beeping.
Its that normal?
Question is : Which part took damage? The motherboard or the cpu/memcontroller?
I'm really confused ...

Funny thing is, Dual channel tops around 270FSB stable. Single Channel tops around ... who knows... past 300FSB now. Does that mean it is typical board? Or are there people going well over 270FSB on dual channel 1gb setup? Wondering if it is my 3700EB or board which is not quite clear yet. I've had this board + FX-55 for a little over a week now, and am still trying to take in all this information. This is my very first AMD system, and as such a lot of this is new to me. Just wondering if this sounds about right to you all.
BIOS 1.36 Beta
Voltage: 1.55 + 3.3% by VID which gives me 1.58-1.60 actual according to MBM, running 10 x 275 (2750mhz)
Memory: Gskill TCCD @ 2.75v running at 275HTT 2.5-3-3-7-1T
AGP Voltage for 6800GT OC @ 1.65v
My temps read around 37C Idle, max i've seen is 57C (Thermaltake Venus 12)
I'm using a PCP&C 510 Deluxe in this system
Most of the other settings i've just been doing what everyone else has used. Just wondering if those voltages look about right for what i'm running. Anything less than that on volts and it reboots, this seems stable right now. I heard 1.65v is the most you want to go on an A64 (air)?
On a side note, my rails vary A LOT depending on which proggy i use. I'm seeing numbers as low as 11.4 on the 12+ rail, and for having the PSU i have, can i trust these readings? I am gonna test it with a multimeter as soon as i can, but all my rails look like crap on the sensors for this board.

Well, I put the MSI on my Vapo LS today...
First run, and all seems good except keyboard and mouse (PS2). Take them to USB and all seems to work fine.
A couple of windows reboots (ordered by me), and then Vapo LS software install. EDIT: I must say that the Vapo was programed to boot at -10º, and after install software, I programed it to boot at -30º
Don't know why, after this, the system hangs in boot screen after DDR post and before HDD detection...

I decided to give this board another try....I posted earlier of problems with my first one, now returned with dead usb ports, floppy controller and more
So far everything has gone smoothly. Updated the bios to 1.30, put in my second OCZ stick. Time has now come to tweak this thing, so I have many questions for you:
1. How do I access the hidden options in the bios? I tried in the main window, pressing shift+F2 + Alt+F3 but no luck.
2. AGP is set to 67, is this enough to activate the pci-lock? I don't want to start pushing untill I'm sure it's activated.
3. Ram settings:
How do I go about clocking? I need an explenation of how fsb, HT freq and timings are related. I'm hoping to press towards 270mhz, at least when I get my watercooling sorted.
If someone has a list of how the different options are set in bios it would be a great help.
I guess that will be all for now :)

You only see diferences with shift+f2 alt+f3 in the sub-menus and not in the main menu... Not like gigabyte boards...
So, do shift+f2 and then alt+f3 and you can see differences, for example, in the "cell" menu. Try to do this inside this menu, besides the main menu, to see the change in the disponible options...

i dont think so, but to make sure you should test the same memory stick on both memory channels = both memory controllers, to see if one of them is ocing worse.
is your vdimm stable? maybe it fluctuates and with 2 sticks it fluctuates a lot more wich keeps your oc down? did you try 1t and 2t?

hey steve-O, welcome to XtremeSystems :toast:
i feel honored to see you post here ;) hehe :D
it could be a bios problem with the divider... but i think the problem is just that you cant oc the memory and the fsb to the max.
its the same when overclocking a videocard, if you oc the gopu you reach a certain speed, if you then oc the memory you reach a certain speed, but you will never be able to run the gpu and the memory at the same speed together, you will always have to slow down the gpu and memory both a bit if you oc both.
its the same for cpus, if you can reach a certain oc and a certain max fsb it doesnt mean you can reach that max cpu oc together with the max fsb you reached with a different multiplier.
a better psu and maybe cooling the mosfets could help you :)
if you have a good psu you can mod it and pump up the rails a little :D

More than a few of us are awaiting the answer to this problem. There is a new bios out but no one has tried it with the mach I yet so i dunno. I would try it myself but i only have enough seal string for one more go so until i buy some more i'll wait and see if someone else finds a fix.

I noticed nVidia have released drivers refered to as 6.14beta. As my last download was 5.10 I wonder if these are nforce drivers. Can anyone confirm this?
Anyone tried them?

Upgraded to Winchester, 3dmark score went down
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My old scores on my xp2500@2400 and 220 mem at 2,3,3,6 with a 9800 AIW @ 400 / 380 would get about 19,500 in 3dmark01.
Same video card at same clocks with a 3200 939 winchester@2500 (4x htt @250) with mem at 208 2,3,3,6 on my Neo2 K8N, I only got 16,100 in 3DMark 01.
What gives? I thought the mem divider on the Athlon 64's makes less of an impact, but my scores suck.

Sounds like the old 1.1 BIOS.
Heres a link to most of the beta BIOS's for the K8n NEO2. And I think a DOS Floppy flasher is included on that site. If not grab an official MSI BIOS and it'll have the proper DOS flasher.

There is a thread here (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=44481&highlight=usb%2A) on ways to flash the BIOS on the NEO 2.
Some nice little tricks in it, and even tho I am a DOS lover, the flash in windows seems OK.
All the BIOS are @ http://www.lejabeach.com/MSIK8N/k8nneo2.html except the one the OnepageBook modded which you can get if you PM him.

OK here is another trick question re: BIOS flashing. I have a left over BIOS saviour that I was using on the DFI NF2 board. Could I use Winflash and flash the saviour with the MSI BIOS and be able to use it? I am not sure if the BIOS that in the Neo2 right now supports Winnies, so trying to figure out a possible solution.
What do you guys think would that work?
ok i just used winflash to flash the bios and it worked BUT my question is why does it still read 9/22/04? i flashed to the 137 modded bios what gives??
hmmm? well on the boot up sceen it shows it being the 1.37 bios so i gues the 9/22/04 date is just the version bios that was modded and renamed 1.37? anyways now my power button works AND i can use 2 sticks of memory in 1T mode sooooooooo looks like the 1.37 modded bios has helped me out big time. now lets oc this puppy :)

You should have no problems with a winnie if you have the mem in single channel mode even with an early BIOS.
I don't see what you shouldn't be able to use a BIOS savior, and if it gives you grief (wrong file etc) force flash it.
Think if you have to force flash it, it will be the floppy way.
See my post here (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17304954&highlight=awdflash) on force flash.
Going to depend what's on it atm, and what board you flash it in.
I just took the flash utility apart, and it does support /F

Is this board's CPU temp sensor way off? My evap temp is -23c but MB is reporting the chip temp as 59c This is a FX-53 @ 2.8ghz under full load.
Well I've only got a XP90 heatsink with a 92mm YS-Tech fan but the temps at full load @2.5Ghz @1.55v is around >60C!!!
Me thinks the temps are as much as 10-15C off the mark, may just be wishful thinking until others can confirm this... :bsod:

I was stuck @ 217 untill Agressive Timing was set to dissable.
Oh and dont forget to set AGP to 67, for the locks to kick in.

I'm glad I didn't encounter any of the problems a lot of you are experiencing. I picked up my board and a 3000+ Winchester from mWave this morning, installed everything into my case, and took it to work.
I plugged everything in and powered up my rig about an hour ago. I initially booted up at 201MHz with no other changes to BIOS. From there, I bumped it up to 275MHz with 2x512MB memory modules running 1:1 at 2.5-3-3-10. I'm currently running SuperPi 32M and will post a screenshot of that alongside a Sandra screenie when it completes.
VCORE is currently at 1.550V and VDIMM is at 2.85V. 2475MHz (37.5% overclock) isn't too shabby for my first hour. I hope there's still some more left in this puppy.
Would any of the BIOS files after version 1.3 happen to have provisions for more VDIMM? 2.85 isn't cutting it as I know my 3200 Platinums were scaling with more voltage on my DFI 754 rig.
Cheers!

11-12-2004, 08:42 PM
if you can get the 3.3 line up to over 3.4, you get a pretty nice boost in vdim.
conrad.maranan
11-12-2004, 09:12 PM
I think I need more than a little boost. If the DFI NF4 isn't out by next week (I know it won't be out yet), I'm going to purchase an OCZ Booster so I can push 3.3V to these Platinums.
The proxy server here at work isn't allowing me to connect to my FTP server. I'll upload my screenshots when I get home in about 2 hours.
My 3000+ is now at 9x291MHz with a healthy dose of 1.550Vx10% pumping through its transistors. I just finished 16M SuperPi and started the 32M run. That's a 45.5% overclock good for 2619MHz as of this writing. Memory is at 5:6 because I've reached my max at 280MHz 1:1 with 2.85V. My RAM needs more juice.
Screenies to follow in a few hours.
EDIT #1:
Anyone using the BIOS from Onepagebook? Did you find that it helped your overclocks?
EDIT #2:
Here's the screenshots I promised earlier:
http://webpages.charter.net/conrad-digital/WinchesterNeo2/1st_hour_on_939.png
http://webpages.charter.net/conrad-digital/WinchesterNeo2/winchester_at_290_on_air.png
Super Pi 32M failed towards the end of the 24th iteration when the HTT was set to 291MHz. I dropped it down to 290MHz, completed Super Pi without incident, and was able to run Prime95 for a little over an hour.
I'll run Prime95 for 24 hours after I post this and see how everything fares. If 24 hours of Prime95 without incident is a success, I'll start playing with BIOS 1.36, 1.37, and the one I downloaded from Onepagebook.
Cheers!

hey with this 1.37 moded bios i have lost firewire suport? anyone know else notice the lack of firewire suport with this bios?

I have 1.37 modded and no probs with firewire - my pod is plugged in right now :D
However, I have some issues with this bios when using the extra %'s on the voltage. 1.55 +10% is fine, but none of the higher values (13, 15 & 18%) seem to work. When these are selected the bios resets to default voltage (and costs me a cmos reset at HTT >275. darn)
Is this a known issue with this bios?
Also have some issues with soft boot / reset not picking up my system (sata) HDD, even at stock. cold boot is fine.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Apart from these minor issues I love this bios.

I don't think the temps are horribly wrong. I think they are measured very close to the core before the heat has had a chance to dissapate into the heatsink. Notice that as soon as I shut off Prime95 the temps drop about 10C immediately.
http://home.comcast.net/~vranichou/prime-cpuz-cpucool.jpg
Does anyone know what PLL this mobo uses? As you can see my voltages are way off. I believe setting CPU cool to the right PLL will correct this.
I'm still tweaking this thing trying to get it stable. I have scored a 30s SuperPi time, but between the memory and the CPU I can't seem to get a grasp on what is causing errors. I'm going to run Memtest tomorrow at stock settings at 200 and 275MHz to make sure this memory is performing to specs. This is a pain compared to my 2600 Mobile system! Ahh.. But what fun!

']Yeah i will post with my results, temps, issues and etc...
So you used ceramique paste, do you think arctic silver 5 will be alright to use on the NB?
Yeah should be ok as long as you're very careful not to shorten the board with AS5, I used ceramique for both the CPU and NB since it's fully non conductive and many have found the performance is pretty much as good as their own AS5.
I don't think the NB chip is 100% flat so I applied a tiny bit extra paste at the centre and refitted the HS/fan before pushing down on it to make sure the paste would spread evenly, not safe if you are using AS5 since it only takes a tiny amount of excess paste to shorten the board.

Fair enough, ill use AS5 on the NB, ill just spread it using thin plastic or something.

Well i have finished setting up the new Neo2 and 3200+
Man i had a handful, ran into issues with xp-90 and XL Pros. Having LED Activity Lights on the Pros, since the ram is higher then normal i couldnt fit my xp-90 in
So XL Pros Neo2 xp-90 combo is NO GO!!!
So i had to use my Venus for now, well maybe later ill get new ram.
Ok havent had any time to o/c, so what temps are you guys getting on 3200+ 90nm and Neo2. Bios reports 39c idle and Speedfan reports 34c. Well ill have to give a good 200Hrs for as5 to settle though and then i can compare.
Pretty pist that i cant use the xp-90 with Vantec tornado Fan, well using the fan right now on the side panel as intake, blowing right at the hsf. Man its fricking loud at full speed, thankfully my case has to fan contoller nobs.
Well so far so good, so can you guys post your cpu temps and sandra memory bandwith benchie. I got 5700/5660 something like that, use to get on the 3500+ 0.13 5900/5825 but thats 200Mhs faster.

Hmmm...strange when i select vcore in bios 'Startup' the bios reports 1.36 so does cpu-z, is that normal or its just undervolting from 1.4?

At the above according to Speedfan the load temp is 46c while priming. Seems to high, maybe a bad mount but i doubt it, i think ill need some time for as5 to settle. What you guys think?

In Bios it isn't @ Idle, but there i have 37°C. Other Temps was from Aida32/Everest. Dont think 46°C @ Load is that bad with air!;)

Yeah i dont mind it, the concern i have is that others temps are lower.
So im just thinking bad mount or time for as5 to settle?

Booster at RMA atm. :( Only hitting 215 MHz without, but believe me, compared to 205 MHz max completely unstable, I can see that the BH5's are behaving like BH5's again.

It is said that NB from Korea (0418+ steppings) can run higher, i don't take that as a fact but as a higher possibility for the motherboard to run at high FSB. Ofcource there are some other things to consider, like the on-die controller or the RAM itself ...Thats why GravediggA is able to run that high

it doesn't mean that is impossible for a NB from taiwan to run high and vise versa... :toast:

Seen all the info i can stomach on this board and have had so many issues it's not even funny but i FINALLY have them all worked out except for the cold boot issue which should be fixed with the new beta bios that's out.
My particular board will not boot an agp card if it's pushed all the way into the agp socket. I have to ever so slightly pull the card up just a fraction for it to boot and i've tried 3 diff agp cards all doing the same thing. I've also experienced random reboots for no reason and finally found out that running dimm slots 3&4 ,instead of the 1&2, like all the faqs say has cured that problem with both sets of my bh-5. System is totally stable for a change. I was also having an issue with setting up 2 250gig hd's on IDE 1 (1 master/ 1 slave). Every time i would access the slave and run/open a file the system would reboot. I finally just moved it over to IDE2 with my dvd burner and said to hell with it :)
Anyway, i thought i'd share some issues and a few resolutions from my experiences with this board.

[ r2 ]
11-17-2004, 08:54 AM
Well even if i dont o/c my +12V rail is 11.91 according to the bios!
Im using Tt 560W PSU and the +12V is only 28A, so this might be holding back my o/c.
Well i was having all sort of problems with XL Pros cant do past 210HTT 1:1 stable. I can past memtest at 250Mhz 2.5-3-3-7 1T timings though, so i was really confused. This was happeing with 2 cpus, 3500+ Newcastle and 3200+ Winchester. 2 different Neo2s.
So i just picked some 3700 EBs, ill see if i can o/c 1:1 now, i know the EBs are capable of doing 240Mhz 3-2-2-6 1T timings and this is the first settings im going to run. If im still having problems than the only thing standing in the way is the PSU.

TNT2 card = old AGP specification.
If I'm not mistaken, the newer AGP requires about half the voltage of the first generation AGP. Try using the 9600XT you have in your sig.

I don't think the temps are horribly wrong. I think they are measured very close to the core before the heat has had a chance to dissapate into the heatsink. Notice that as soon as I shut off Prime95 the temps drop about 10C immediately.

Hi,
I just started playing with a new MSI K8N Neo2 and a Athlon 64 3200+ Winchester. The last time I oc'ed an AMD was with an old Athlon XP so am fairly new to the 64's. I've really enjoyed the combination but have hit a very strange wall. Since I do not yet have my OCZ ram, I am using the old Geil Ultra Platinum PC4000 dual channel set in my system, so I have to run the memory at 133 (otherwise I can barely boot past 220) to test out the CPU.
I have so far reached 295 x 9 at HT 3x (memory at effective 190 MHz and 1T). But as soon as I try pushing to 300 x 9, my system won't boot. In fact, I don't even get a post screen and At 295 I can boot into windows and run Super Pi without any stability issues; Prime 95 does eventually crash out but does so randomly (one time at 5 minutes and another at 30), leading me to believe I should run at slightly less than 295 for gaming. Plus, 295 x 9 is achieved at stock voltages for the CPU. Do you think I hit a wall? Or might I have a setting wrong? I haven't yet tried dropping to 300 X 8, although I question whether that would be that helpful since I'd drop from 2.65 GHz down to 2.4 GHz for just 5 MHz of fsb. But I would like to hit 300 just for kicks and then scale back for gaming.
In a way this is just moot because I know with my OCZ's at 1:1 I will probably not make it to 295. Anyways, thanks for any suggestions.

Did you do the 3.3v rail mod? Wonder if ADATA Vitesta DDR500 want some more volt then 2.85v.
