Yup, not a virgin anymore. I'll never run anything else than dualcores on LGA1156, that's for sure. 8-thread chips are socket melters I think

oh that makes me feel real good! i just bought an evga p55 ftw and i7 860 i almost bought clarkdale but said nah. so you are saying 8 threads cause the burn? then why are i5 750 users reporting it as well?? so basically even though EVGA uses full LOTES socket it doesnt matter?? have any evga socket burns been reported because I havent seen any with any chips
I havent seen anyone reporting LOTES socket burn, and it isnt 1 particular board. If you read through this thread many boards had this issue. I think you will be fine with LOTES m8, EVGA replaced the foxconn sockets for a reason.

whew. i read though but never saw the problem on evga and saw they were replacing the foxconn crap sockets. but people saying 8threaded chips cause it freaked me out for a second i almost had a heart attack!
I use a FTW with the foxconn socket and i7 860 myself :O

well mine came in yesterday. Foxconn Socket! but whatever I have had no prolems at all with it. until I do I wont worry. but if I do i will make EVGA give me a new one.
looking to buy socket a cpu, and i would like to see a side by side compairson of some coolers..anyone have a good link to share? thanks
From where i can buy Lotes socket for my Giga p55-Ud6
i7-860(20x200)1.3v,Silver Arrow+2xScytheSS SM1425SL12H, P55-UD6 F11d,G.Skill Trident PC 16000 9-9-9-27 1.6v 2x2 gb, gb5770, WD 6400AAKS+WD3200AAKS,Chieftec CFT-650-14CS.
U Cant buy only the socket :S. If You are not extreme Ocer u dont have to worry about Foxconn Socket in your motherboard. I had my P55 GD80 with Foxconn Socket and i dont have any issues at + 1.9 volts and Wprime so i think only was a problems with earlier Sockets with extreme Overclocking.
Mobo : Asus P5P55D Dlx with fox socket
CPU : i5 750 Retail
I'm using this cpu and mobo about 3 weeks, with some easy oc, vcore about 1.4v with water cooling, max MHz smth like 4300 and not too mouch stress testing. Today I wanna change cpu to another one and I see burn socket and ofc cpu
Cpu and mobo still working, but I'm think about change mobo to EVGA or GB.
evga still has foxconn sockets mine does. what were you putting in it for voltage?? how high of VTT volts?? im thinking its got to be VTT or PLL voltage thats doing this. my VTT has not gone above 1.375V and pll at 1.82v vcore only set to 1.325v maximus at 4.2GHZ HT on no burn for me. also what cooler?? mine i tried adding more than 70lbs of preassure and it wouldnt boot. maybe to much/to little cooling preassure. mine sits at 65/70lbs and has had no problems whatsoever
Edit: seeing it a lot on i5-750's above they said it was hyper threaded chips that did it they thought bout the thread count shows more i5-750's than 8 cored cpu's so now thats out

Hi guys,
Yesterday, i was overclocking a P55A-UD7 with my friends. The Foxconn socket burned, and the cpu also, on the top of the socket like Massman with his UD6. It was a retail 670. The "funny" thing is that CPU and Mobo were still working, because we just unplugged it when the work was done, not because it dies. So we noticed the cpu was burned, but we didn't pay atention to the socket. Then i plugged a ES 661 and played couple of hours. When i removed it, my cpu was allright, mainboard also, except about 20 pins which were burned.
So not only quad core or 8 thread cpu are burning on Gigabyte Foxconne sockets...Did someone have any information about this failure ? I can't read the eleven pages
seen a burn on a i3-530 with p7p55d at stock clocks after a hour of usage

Even with 1.57 volt died what a shame

they were not using ln2!!! They lied!!! Instead they were cranking the liquid helium, the copper pads got too brittle and then they touched the table and 'bang' the copper pad shorted itself out!!!
That is the only explanation!
Regardless, that is seriously gnarly...Part of my cannot believe that a short would even do that with only ~2.0 V
