Which block for i7? Apogee gt or danger den mpc-cpu

I have both blocks and I have ordered an Asus P6T to replace my broken MSI x58 platinum. The Asus has placements for the 775 and 1366 water blocks. Which block do you think will perform better with the 920? I used the apogee gt on and overclocked q6600 oc'd to 3.6 and the mpc with the i7 oc'd to 4 ghz. The apogee held the temps down in the 50's [q6600] full load while the mpc held the temps around 70 [920] full load.

I have the GTZ and it tops out mid-high 70's at 4142mhz and has a 4870 in the loop....It performs well but it's not very pretty.

Apogee gets my vote but by all means, test it out if you have the time.

Going by the results with the Q6600 I'd say go with the Apogee. That's probably gonna be one to try though. Most here have the newer blocks. I too have the GTZ and have benched @ 4.2. Max temps on lastnights runs were 71, 68, 71, 65C. I ran Cinebench and some Chess Runs. My minimum temps since lastnight are 36, 33, 35, 31C. Those are via RealTemp.

The rest of the specs for my loop are in my sig. Those Kaze's are running at 2000 rpm for all those tests via a controller.

The danger den is a newer block made for i7. I think the apogee will perform better. I started to order the gtz but why when I have 2 perfectly working blocks. The P6T arrives tomorrow so I will do some tests when I have time.

Are people running dedicated loops for the cpu or do you have video cards in the loop? I run a dedicated loop for my GTZ with a qp 320. Cause i havent seen any temps over 60s and i run 4.2ghz daily.

I'd be very interested to see your results. I kind of want to hold on to my Apogee GT when I move to i7.

What adaptor would you use for a GT to work on 1366?

I ran the danger den the apogee gt and a new(just purchased) ek supreme for about 8 hrs using prime 95 and real temp. My cpu is the i7 overclocked to 3.9 ghz with a vcore of about 1.38. The danger den mp-cpu ran temps of about 70 while the apogee gt was about the same at 61. The EK supreme ran temps of about 55. Mind you I am using this on a cpu only loop with a 655 pump, swiftech mcr-220 and thermochill 120.3 radiators in series also using the swiftech micro rev. 2 res. I am in no way a pro just an enthusiast so take these temps for what they are worth. Just an average joe performing tests in his storage house. Though I am an engineer and do understand some of the mechanics.

"no pro": perfectly understood, its no problem, thanks for the feed-back. but from a thermal standpoint, this Delta seems quite high. Your ambient must have dropped significantly between DD/GT tests and EK.. 15C is simply too much ;-)

Either the ambient or bad mounts with the others, happens to us all even the most experienced users, but 15c is to massive when all blocks preform with-in a 5 degree range generally.

Oops. Doing a little work at home while writing this and wrote in the wrong figures. The figure I wrote in for the GT was for temp flow on pneumatic lines for the past week at work. The correct number has been edited in. The DD has terrible mounting hardware which can account for some of its performance. For the the supreme I ordered the Nehalem Socket B / LGA 1366 for a backplate. Which helped a lot. The GT came with good mounting hardware.
