    Condenser mounted horizontal

Can a condenser still function properly when mounted flat horizontally? If a conventional condenser wouldn't work that way, are there any that can? I mean in theory it could work because the velocity of the refrigerant should be fast enough that it should push all the liquid out the end, but maybe a coil with different type of loop ends would function better, like in the picture illustrated.

There are condensers that are piped to function this way. However, they are rare. I think I have seen two on ebay and one was actually an evaporator.

AC units for boats are similar to what you are describing. They are small but if they work I see no reason why it couldn't be made on a larger scale. Here's a link to a boat unit : http://www.nauticexpo.com/prod/vitri...93-149322.html
