    GeXCube 9600XT Voltmod(urgent)

    Hi guys.
    Having the following problem.
I've found this picture-but am not sure where to attach the second end of the variable resistor.
    I circled it yellow.
Please say, where do i attach it(i have an idea to solder it to a place circled green-is that correct)

If you have a meter make sure that the leg circled of that ic is not ground. If it isn't, any ground should work.

Sorry, mate. But could you please explain how to check whether it's ground or not.
To which legs do i connect the meter, and what am i looking for?

Set the meter for continuity with a beep if you have it or set it for ohm's.

Put either one of the leads let's say red, on the leg of that chip that you are supposed to solder to. Than put the other lead the black one onto the metal part of the card the attaches to the cases. It should not beep or read 0 ohms. If it does beep or show 0 ohms than that leg of the ic is actually ground.

    only?

1.5v is a lot, too much for stock cooling...

1.5V with stock cooling IS a lot for a core designed with 1.3V in mind. Run it a bit lower

I'm running mine at 1.4v and have a 640Mhz clock. try lowering the voltage to 1.4v and then work upwards until you don't see any improvement.

And replacing your stock cooling is a must if you're going to push your vcore past 1.4v. That little chip puts of some decent heat when you raise the voltage and core clock that much.

by the way, i am using watercooling with my GeXCube 9600XT (-2.8ns Samsung Version), which voltage is safe for the Core and the Ram??

damn...don't think you'd need watercooling ,but then again...why not!

I think the voltage would depend on your card. Mine seems to get flaky when I go above 1.45v. In flaky, I mean that sometimes I'll get artifacts, sometimes I won't, and almost all the time I won't be able to clock the memory as high (almost like it's starving for more power).

with water, Try to use a POT/trimmer and go for 1.4V gpu to start.

see ifits stable at relativly unmaxxed speeds.

and continue to up the voltage to a max of 1.5V, some chips just artifact nomatter how good of cooling and speed.

my core won't do over 1.35V w/o artifacting on good 1u cooling.

3v Max on samsung 2.8 chips only if u got ramsinks.

Actually guys, i have zalman cooling on my card, so there's no problem of overheating(i also check it with my hand).
Probabbly i got an "unlucky" card, therefore it's so poor at overclocking. I reach 660-but it's eXtrim for my card- it creates lots of artifacts.
ATI Tool is very time consuming and goes around 580-600, even despite that high voltages.

    !!! Help...
I set up core clock to , for instance, 621. It passes all the omega driver artifact tests. But, when i start 3d mark or a game(i tryed Flight Simulator 2004) after a few minuts(seconds) the screen goes black(as when it is in a "sleep" mode). BUT ! computer still responds to some key on the keyboard!!!.
I can turn it off by a Power Key on the KEYBIOARD, also i can Num Lock, etc.

Does anyone know what are these simptoms all about? Please help.

HAppens if you OC the gpu too much. Lower your clock frequencies or raise the voltage. Passing the Artifact tests doesnt mean stable clock frequencies on the 9600.

yup...what is happening is the GPU is not responding. There is an option in the drivers for this called GPU recover. most of the time it works. If I clock my card above 655 I get the same thing. So I run at 645 normally.

Ok, thanx for help guys. Finally working 630/630.
Havent tryed memory yet. According to Spec it should clock 700(2.8), by default-650, by me 630 for sync.
