    another KHX3000/256 chip marking!!!

Now I've seen dw50 AND dw60 rebranded chips on KHX3000/256!!
I grabbed a couple pairs of sticks at the local shop and one set is the usual dw50 but THIS pair is a NEW code, dw-60 I don't have a high-fsb testbed right now, so I can't test them to see what they do... but they're week 46, 2002. Could they be BH-6 or just MORE BH-5??? Strange. But NOW from looking at the stickers I KNOW which ones are dw50

I believe Kingston just remarked winbond chips with these designations, not sure beyond that.

DW is how Kingston relabels their Winbond chips.

So generally speaking DW-8 = BH-8 (no it doesn't exist lol)

Lucky for me my KHX3000 x512 Kit (2x256) came with ORIGINAL Winbond BH-5 not relabeled, on top of the BH-5 writing it says 339 which is prlly the week.

    I likely them

well it started off when I found a local store that had some KHX3000. I knew from Macci's adventures that some of this stuff clocks nice. So I bout a pair and brought them home. They run at 220 2-2-2-5 at 2.8V... I thought hmmmm....pretty nice. I opened them up and saw this week 51, 2002 Kingston branded chip with the 3 dots...the research started, the thread grew and we figured out that there was another kind of Kingston rebranded chip, the dw-45. Logic said oh man the dw-45 must be really good! Rated better than BH-5, well it turns out a lot of dw-45 don't clock well. But the dw-50 run to 240+ even 250+ at 3.3V then someone or another confirmed that the dw-50 WAS in fact BH-5. In fact, at 250+ how could they be anything else?

So, now 20 something sticks later I run into a new chip marking.
Don't know whether to return these sticks or look for someone who wants them cheap to be guinea pig I sold my Pressie so I can't do any high FSB testing...

I don't know if you recall but I remember Macci posting that all KHX3000 is BH5/6, I'm guessing DW-60 is nothing more than BH-6

All I know is they're all PRETTY GOOD

I just wish there was a way to examine the surface of the module and tell if it was BH5 process or BH6 process...
Maybe Kingston just told Winbond "Just send us all the naked stock you've got that runs at XXX spec" And who knows WHAT Winbond sent them...

    Another thing:
If Kingston remarks a chip 0246, does that mean the chip's original Winbond mfg date was 0246, or is 0246 the date that Kingston remarked them?? Or does Kingston even do the remarking? Maybe it's Winbond? Maybe it's as simple as that, they throw them all on mem testers and you get 4.5nS, 5.0nS and 6.0nS speed bins??
But if that's true, why is it that so MANY peeps have slow dw-45? I know precisely 1 person who has FAST dw-45 (sjohnson)....

Is the HyperX3000 stuff still all gonna be using winbond chips?? I am debating on purchasing it as it is the cheapest stuff to get a gig of (due to the speed rating).

My thought is that the DW-45 are slow because only a few take the time to do a burnin. Mine are over a month old, with most of that month spent in burnin.

I think I've topped the two sticks out in my Infinity at 250 2-2-2-11, fully aggressive except for Command Per Clock disabled. No errors at 250/3.3v but many errors at 251.

You can find KHX3000 sticks with following chips:

D328DW - 45 = In KHX3000 sticks these are nearly always CH-5 chips, but rarely they can be BH-5 chips too.

    D328DW - 50 = Winbond BH-5

    D328DW - 60 = Winbond BH-6

I was thinking that someone should just call Kingston and see if this mess can all be sorted out

BUT, then I read this at OCForums:

    jolyman
I just got off the phone with Kingston tech. support.

The bad news is that "engineering will NOT share" what chips are being shipped in any mem. stick.

He did assure me the matched sets "ARE MATCHED in EVERY WAY" But what is in what is your guess!!

They will uphold the advertised timings, ie. 2-2-2-6-1
    Well, isn't that special?

KHX3000 are rated 2-2-2-6-1 and do not come with CH chips. When are people going to understand that... It's on KHX3500 they are mostly CH-5.

People might come to understand that, if they hadn't actually bought KHX3000 with CH-5 chips on them...
I've heard it all, I've seen it all, I've done it all. I just don't remember any of it.

I had emailed Kingston tech support and they gave me a list of the model numbers (the ones on the heatspreaders) that came with BH5 chips (there were 3 or 4 of them) but my HD's just died on me last week and I lost the email :/
