Solving the AN7 issue
Ok, seems none of the new owners, despite memory, cards, processors all being different, can get this board over 225 FSB. Everything else seems just fine, but not this.
The only thing I guess we AN7 owners can do is check out the registers.
So... does anyone have a link for WCpredit?
I think we should compare it to NF7 values and see what exactly is the holdup.
By looking at this board we ALL know it should clock higher.

maybe the vdd options dont work? with only 1.6v vdd 220 sounds about right without extra nb cooling...
what stepping of nbs do they have?

Isn't it great when you've barely got the shrink wrap off the "latest and greatest" and already gotta start dealing with issues?

I agree with pete, the only results ive seen so far have been people who didnt have great FSB before getting better, or the same..
Untill somebody who allready has a high fsb gets one its hard to judge.

Me.. if your refering to the guy with the gash hehe.
I filled the gash with some black nail polish as well.. i didnt want to take a gamble going over the paint so i took a detour ehehe.
I dont know if the gash had anything to do with the 3rd DIMM slot taking a crap on me or not since it was fine for about 30 to an hour or testing.. Since then i've talking it all apart and boxed the board back up for a exchange... i might even just return it for a refund if no one else shows better results.

I should have mine on Mon or Tues. I think Mon.
it's funny, the last NF-S I had with the new silver caps, only did 225 reliably too.
if this persists, I'll say what i said before.
Nvidia is binning the good cuts of silicon for the NF3, and the NF7's NB's are the leftovers from the binning process.
I truly believe that. The best cuts of silicon always go to the flagship product 1st then all rejects are binned down.

My board has that same gash on that bridge. I think whatever it is that they did, they need that gash there to stop something.

Well thats good to know.. Someone PM'ed me and told me that it must of been deliberate but didnt have a board to prove it.
Thanks for that bit of info.
Though Friday night it seems the damage was done since it took out the 3rd DIMM slot for DC.. So its gona go back.

I kind of figured that was an intentional cut.. Kinda bad though, that cut trace obviously disables something, seems the board was another rush job.. Bad thing is they hardly have the stock to the resellers and already an AN7 Rev 2 is needed

Are you guys saying that Abit made that gash?
I kinda doubt it. I can't see a mobo manufacturer making a gash on the board not knowing if they fixed something or perhaps did damage to the board. Doesn't make sense to me.

This doesn't make any sense to me. I can't see Abit telling the techs to "cut the trace" . It doesn't even look like a professional cut.
I don't know what to make of this

Well its either that or someone in the factory was having a bad day and wanted to get back at Abit or get fired or something.
The board kinda looks like a rush job anyways with the ground monting holes not even soldered correctly. I'm thinking they were behind schedual on this board and had probs with something and found the solution as to cut that trace.

I'm not happy about all this I can tell you this.
If my board has the same gash then it has to be deliberate.
We all got them from the Newegg right?
Does Hallowed have the same gash? He got his from Xcaliber I think?

well i dont think it was the solution to anything, they probably disabled something with this cut that caused problems of some sort.
ask the abit guy!

No gash, but I am less than happy with this board still.
Its just NOT stable. Out of nowhere it just remembered my chip was a 333 part and its running ok again???
At any rate the higher default volts should have tipped me off that this cut of silicon is worse.
I'm going to reflash without that retarded FLASHMENU and see if I can get this board back on its feet again.
