    thanks in advance!~

I'd just do the Vgpu mod first, its the least likely to kill your video card and pretty simple.

Make sure that the variable resistor it set to max resistance b4 you soldier it in place so that the Vgpu will be at a safe level.

I've gained little with the Vmem mods, some folks have had better results.

The Vref mod can kill your card if your not real careful, shouldn't take the Vref above 1.5v !

And make sure your multimeter has a good battery.

I just did the VGU on my 9700np and my multimeter was reading 2.25v... I was "WTF HOLY §§§§ THIS ISNT A 10K POT!!"... then I changed batteries... darn battery light.. lol.

    Unfortunately, my card sucks. 1.6v = 400mhz so far (maybe 405?). 1.75v = 425mhz 8-(

Fortunately, my cooling keeps it ice cold up to 1.75v so far... I doubt even 2.0v would phase the chunk of copper on there 8-)

    edisonwu, WELCOME TO XTREME!

STEvil. We've tested R9500 up to 2.7V, so 2.0V will be pretty safe voltage.

Major. Are you sure that Vref over 1.5v is dangerous? 'cos my card works exactly at that voltage... Maybe i should lower it a bit (though it helped me a lot - mem OC goes from 375 to 400 mhz)

    2.7v on the core?

You were either drunk at the time or you have much more money to play around with than I do! 8-)

just use a variable resistor and set the resistance higher again

all the resistors shown in the picture above are variable resistors

how much money have you paid for that card. Can you afford to burn that money? Is 380Mhz really that much slower than 400-425.

Simply... if you don't know exactly what you are doing and can easily afford to get a replacement, then this isn't for you. Stick to regular, non voltage modified overclocking... you'll thank we later, when you ignore this message and screw up the volt mod.

BTW: Ati doesn't just blindly give you a replacement card... They know exactly which pins too look for for traces of solder. It's not like volt-modding cards is a secret they don't know about... my friend who works there was one of the first to do it.

    Couldn't agree with you more...

You two guys think that he's trying to put you down... but he's really trying to help you...

The best practice is working on PCB's that are ALREADY DEAD its never a good idea to try your first VMOD on new HW.

Think of it this way... its your first time driving a car, you gonna take it on the highway? No, of course not, not unless your planning a one way trip atleast...
