My P180 WaterCooling Project (Lots of Pictures! WARNING 56K)

Hey Guys, started modding my P180 on Tuesday and I just got the water cooling set up tonight. I know how you all love pictures, so there are lots of pictures included!! Before we start, sorry for any slow download speeds, I had to host all the images off of imageshack, due to lack of webspace and no time to convert all the image sizes

A simple mod I have done a while ago with some aluminum tape

Planning out my radiator tubing holes

Radiator tubing holes drilled out (unfinished)

Box of wheat thins placed under drill zone

    Hole for DD Fillport

Drilled the rivets out of the bottom 5 1/2" bay (then took bay out)

Small mod for wire management (forgot to take picture of the other side, which much more was taken off)

Front grill mods (can still use filter too)

I used the screw hole that was for the upper hard drive rack as a guide for mounting my pump. I opened it up a bit, and then drilled another, cutting it close to the floppy drive

MCW60 looked pretty funk after cleaning it (24 hour vinegar, instant distilled water flushing)

Had to mod one of the loons for the radiator (will have to do for upper exhaust in case)

    The rig leak testing

    Closer Looks

    What do you all think?

Getting the tubing on all the fittings was a royal ! That pump is damn loud, I don't know if it is the way I have it mounted, and the fact it is open case at the moment, but I can hear it from my doorway of my room

I have some Vavoline Super Coolant, but I am figuring I don't need it? The storm and MCW60 are copper, so is the radiator (?)

That being said, should I make a trip to the fish store and get some of that anti algae liquid?

I would also like to thank everyone that has helped me out, especially MaxxRacer and Creidiki

Looking good! Looks a lot like my case, except my rad will be inside... Wish my parts would get here!

You might be better off not mounting the pump with the screws and just putting a big piece of neoprene under it...

See last pic in my first post:

I'll try that, even if I put pressure down on the pump it still makes the noise, so I am not sure if it is the pump or just the vibrations going through the screws...

Question about that pump, on the other side right above the DO NOT RUN DRY label, there is a little black stopped, what exactly is this and should I keep it in there?

can you post pics on how much clearance you have for the video outpu cables on the video card?
because i was thinking of using that radbox, but it looked like the rad would cover the video card ports.
    thanks!

Another suggestion, even though you have the anti-vibration mounts, on the bottom you still have the nut securing it directly in contact with the case. You could try to use a rubber washer on the bottom to help alleviate vibrations even more.

Sure, I'll take some pictures once I get home from work, there is a lot of clearance though

As for the pump, I took the screws off and the noise dropped by more than 1/2, so I will just cover it in neoprene or try the rubber washer method as suggested

Anyone know where I can get neoprene? Any suggestions on the additive question posted earlier?

Mikal, with reagards to the MCW60, it looks like you got finger prints on it.. big no no there. (it tarnishes it much quicker)

As gocchin said, put the pump on neoprene. When properly isolated the 50Z is very quiet.

I tried cleaning it with some isopropyl but it didn't seem to help, it was like that even when soaking in the vinegar, the fingerprints were just a thing after

There any places locally or online I can get lots of neoprene?

McMaster sells neoprene and many other anti-vibration materials.
Just cut up an old mouse pad.

Sorry Brian, not farmiliar with aramflex. As you probably know, they list applications for all the different neoprene/rubber/foam materials they have. It's under raw materials>rubber and foam rubber.

I might get some paxmate too, the neoprene sheets on McMaster seem pretty expensive compared to a kit of paxmate I can get for $20

Well, its probably better quality too... though paxmate has the lazy+++ factor to it, you just cut it up and peel the paper off and stick it on...
