    X1800XT benching with Dothan platform

Haven't done any benching or tweaking or voltmodding in a while. Today I decided to give it all a go once again

Opened the ASUS P4GPL-X box I've had a while and turned the soldering iron on. After some soldering I had a nice Dothan platform with PCIe slot and needed voltage adjustments (Vdimm @ 3.3V, chipset voltmod). There happend to be a Dothan 740 installed on the CT-479 adapter so I decided to go with that and the default ASUS cooler, installed some good old KHX3200 BH5 for the DIMM-slots. And to make things even more interesting I slammed the X1800XT to the PCIe slot

    Aircooled rig:

The CPU ain't the best clocker and does only a bit over 2.7G with this default aircooling so I started with somewhat safe setting of 2.7GHz (11x245, 2-2-2-5).
    3DMark05 at 2.7G with default X1800XT clock:

    (click for full screenshot)

The FX57 system I have reaches only 9174Marks at 2.8GHz with default X1800XT clock so the Dothan seems to give a nice boost for Mark05.

Here is also a quick 3d2001 run I made with 2.7GHz CPU speed (RAM at 245 2-2-2-5) and bumped the card speed up to 712/841 for the Nature test (this was just enough to reach the 39k barrier).

    (click for full screenshot)

475FPS Nature aircooled and I didn't even push it to the limits yet so its looking good. I noticed that the Nature score got a boost from upping the CPU and RAM and PCIe clock and was clearly faster than the Nature score I got with AMD platform.

I have another 740 and a 730 to play with and those should reach higher speeds. Watercooling or Dryice play is the next step.

    UPDATE with DryIce:

Small update: Mark05 = 10505 at 2.7GHz and 732/868 card clock. And thats all the benching I can do today (gotta run).

Very nice Macci. Thanks for sharing your findings. Very fast rig. Can you do the same for an X1800XL if you have one?

    Thanks.

No kidding. My XL did 369Fps on FX @ 658/711

These cards are going to be '01 killers especially in CF.

Hey macci, do you have temp monitoring available in Control Center, (if your running it)?

After months away he does a bit of benching and then " gotta run "

You and Opp, I don't know

Mind you I've discovered kiting and am having problems doing two hobbies at once. With air overclocking you are always waiting for cold temps, with kiting you are always waiting for the wind to pick up, but not as much as this guy

I skipped the watercooling step for now and went to DICE.

this poor CPU seems to max already at around 3.15G :/ Should still give somewhat decent scores. But for WR-level 2001 scores a 780 is probably a must.

Just finished first run w/ Mark05 at 3.12G/840/940 and scored 11735

    2k1 nature is around 530FPS =)

Nice one macci, freeze those babies, cant wait for the scores, even if you are limited on the Dothan front, are you able to get a 780 sometime soon? I do hope so
