What's the method for measuring pressure drop?

How can I measure pressure drop in my loop? Thx!

First, you need very expensive equipment. Search for a post by Maxxx where he shows off his new equipment and gives some pressure readings for various blocks. This was within the last three months in this forum.

Why would you want to measure pressure drop? You could use a manometer to do that. There are pressure transducers, best would probable be lvdt type.....You can get these, calibrated for 1-5V, or 4-20mA outputs, and you can scale that to a DVM.

Why not use a small venturi in your setup, the upstream side will have a larger pressure, caused by the restriction, on the downstream side you will have a slightly lower pressure, and the change in this would be proportional to your flow....

Record your pressure differential......for a more free-flowing system, dP will increase, and vice-versa.

What do you really want to acheive? Maybe I can give better ideas then.

Found the thread I was thinking of, it's Differential Pressure Meter Testing.

mr. bean, what are of expertise do you have? you seem to know your stuff when it comes to this.

Brit has the thread I posted a while ago linked above, but that unit isnt for sale anymore afaik.

Fluke and Omega both make a wide range of manometers that will do the job though. some pretty nifty units i found at www.omega.com . expensive though
