I used to have links here demonstrating how awesome I am, but it's been so long that they're not very relevant (and the pictures have disappeared), so I guess I'll have to get working on new stuff.
Got mine for 825 at Monarch plus 20 for shipping, no taxes . Got lucky too, chip is already backordered a month there. Luckily mine shipped yesterday!
Right now, Egay has two for like 925 each USD. So if it doesnt work on my board, I might break even or actually make 50 bucks on the deal.
I've decided that if it doesnt work for me, I'll put it up for sale here for one-two days (i doubt anyone will want it) then it goes straight to Egay.
If only I had a board to test these
These are rather old for E-stepping

Though for some odd reason no review yet for either of them .

Can u try those out with D2OL. I think people would jump at this deal if u put it for sale on these forums.
If the chips works, I'm keeping it (unless for some reason I cant get any oc out of it). So...If I can try D2OL, it means the chip works on my board...so I won't be selling it most likelyOriginally Posted by moddolicous
Chip is "out for delivery" and I must say, waiting is the hardest part. Thank goodness it's Friday. Pics of chip to come soon, and hopefully first look at how it overclocks right here at XS.
Also, those pics are old, I'm expecting 0505 or later but we will see. :banana4:

these cpu's have been in production for quite a while. i think amd's delay on launching them is to get enough stock to meet the intial demand.Originally Posted by drcrawn
anandtech has a review on the 252, and they're week 46 i think.
Got a fan over those memory sticks? No? Well get to it before you kill them
Well in six hours or less I should know what I got, and so will you.Originally Posted by ozzimark

When I come home from work, I expect to see results.
Actually, I took those pics a few days ago to sell those 250 E4's. And as the FX has proven, the production date isn't necesarily indicative of quality/overclock.Originally Posted by drcrawn
BTW what board are you putting the 252 into? My friend has an asus sk8v and tried to boot with one of these new .09, E stepping cpu's and could not. Maybe all he needed was a bios update, but just thought I'd let you know.
Not what I wanted to hear at all. Looks like this chip may make a short trip to Ebay after all.Originally Posted by s7e9h3n
I'm running a beta bios, but it aint that new. I tried contacting Asus with absolutely no help whatsoever from them (thanks Asus). Oh well sometimes you gotta be a guinea pig.
You'd think Asus would have been researching this and come out with a bios to work with new 90nm for it's customers by now.
Asus if you let me down, don't expect future business from me
edit: I'm using 1003.004 bios, there is one more dated later 1003.007 that I have, but I had major problems with it so I went back to 1003.004.

I was getting a no boot issue with my mobile Oakville in a DFI board. Had tried everything I could think of, and could just not get the chip to work. I was 99% sure the BIOS didn't support the chip, and I was about to give up, but somebody suggested I try the memory in different slots, and sure enough with the mem in slots 2 and 3 it booted up and has been running fine since.
So if it doesn't work right away, don't be so quick to blame it on the BIOS. Mem controllers will no doubt be different between your current Opteron and the 0.09µ 252, so I'd recommend trying the memory in different slots and configurations first off. You could also try to "force" the chip to boot by setting everything to the 252's default in the BIOS before installing it.
