Unleash XP by installing it on "i486" ?!?!??!

I just find this stragne topic in a russian forum. I don't really know much russian, but the things I got :

There is an agreement between MS and Intel that Windows CPUIDs the PC that it's installed on, and if the CPU is fast it adds empty loop cycles in order to slow it down.

So the guy pressed F5 during XP install and selected i486 from the list and then installed the OS.

Then he benchmarcked:

CPUID ON. CPUID OFF.

3D MARK 2001se 9896 13254
3D MARK 2003 2879 4245
AusCPUbench'03 11025 16811

Pretty big scores, sounds really incredible. so if someone knows better russian or wants to experiment here's the link:

http://www.fwz.ru/forum/showthread.p...5&page=1&pp=10

That guy is also talking on HAL stuff here:

Anyone to confirm what he said?

I know russian cause i'm russian
OK just read that thread...
So u are right it's some interesting trick.
Microsoft made it because intel and amd must sell more processors so microsoft windows xp checks type if cpu and then uses slower code if the processor fast, and if cpu is slow winxp uses fast code wich gives more speed.
So pressing F5 at installation screen when computer prints "Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration" and choosing i486 processor may give u better results.

It is what wrote there. From me i'll say that nobody tested it...so it may be a joke and may be not...

Today my computer crashed and I installed Windows XP.

I tried to install using the 468 Hal and the setup would then stall. This is on a Pentium 3.0ghz HT proccessor.
I think it's a joke and not real, and Even though Microsoft is evil, they wouldn't do something stupid like this.
