FinalWire AIDA64 Unveiled; Replaces Lavalys EVEREST

So has anyone used the new software yet? Read the bolded stuff below.

    http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.ph...2159&Itemid=22

FinalWire Ltd. today announced the immediate availability of AIDA64 Extreme Edition 1.00 software, a streamlined diagnostic and benchmarking tool for home users; and the immediate availability of AIDA64 Business Edition 1.00 software, an essential network management solution for small and medium scale enterprises.

As a descendant of the award-winning AIDA16 and AIDA32 software, and the successor to the widely popular diagnostic utility Lavalys EVEREST, the brand new AIDA64 version leaps forward into the next decade by introducing a collection of 64-bit processor and memory benchmarks, an enhanced 64-bit system stress test module, and a further expanded hardware database.

"After the splitting up of Lavalys, we at FinalWire are happy to continue our efforts of delivering a dependable monitoring software to our faithful users" said Tamas Miklos, managing director of FinalWire. "Since the introduction of our first diagnostic utility ASMDEMO in 1995, we have built a passionate community of hobby users, hardware enthusiasts, and professional overclockers. Using the valuable feedback we have collected from them in the past few years, we have created a software for the new decade of 64-bit multi-core systems."
    New and enhanced benchmarks

Besides introducing 64-bit variants of its proven memory and processor benchmark methods, AIDA64 implements an optimized ZLib data compression benchmark and an enhanced set of fractal computational floating-point benchmarks. It also adds a new CPU benchmark method to determine cryptographic hash value calculation performance. All AIDA64 processor benchmarks are now fully ported to 64-bit, scale up to 32 processor cores, and utilize MMX, 3DNow! and SSE instructions to unlock the full potential of modern multi-core Intel and AMD processors.
    Solid-state drive support

AIDA64 further extends its exhaustive hardware database by adding 300 solid-state drives (SSD), making the database count over 115,000 entries total. On top of the usual ATA auto-detect information the new SSD database enables AIDA64 to display flash memory type, controller model, physical dimensions, and data transfer performance data. The new AIDA64 version also implements SSD-specific SMART disk health information for Indilinx, Intel, JMicron, Samsung, and SandForce controllers.
Improved stress testing, alerting and hardware monitoring features

The popular System Stability Test module is now ported to 64-bit to put the most demanding workload on both the system memory and all available CPU cores. Overheating, over-voltage, and cooling fan alerts are now fine-tunable with alert sound and emergency application launch. The real-time hardware monitoring module was further improved by adding Intel QST 2.0, Koolance TMS-200, and DIMM thermal sensor device support.
    Upgrading from EVEREST

The Lavalys home page has not been updated since august, there are no more forums at lavalys, and Fiery an everest dev is on the aida64 forums. http://forums.aida64.com/

If someone can get him to post over here he would clear things up I'm sure.

its exactly the same but they added a monitor graph (it may have been in everest is was on an older one.) the only change i see is that the memory bench is faster as its 64bit and the new icon.

There is no need to be hesitant. These are the same people that developed Everest for Lavalys and are the creators of aida16 and aida32. Everest is now abandonware. Lavalys is the equivalent of say Activision or EA. They don't make or work on the product, they were just distributors. The free upgrade is simple and safe. Also for a limited time, they are offering 50% off your new purchase until Oct 20, 2010.

@ Loque, if the software has a bug for your system, please sign up for the aida64 forum and post your bug report so that we may help assist you. Fiery will be happy to help solve the issue on your system. Actually there is already a thread sorta about it. It seems to be a "Gulftown" only issue.

Consider it as Everest being just an intermediate step (not well managed by Lavalys) between AIDA32 and AIDA64
Fiery (the main person and creator) is now the head of FinalWire, so he moved *.* to his own company. => things will be even better now

You pretty much want to follow wherever Fiery went to, he was like a 1 man army for Everest support.

    Lavalys say this:

Thank you for taking the time to verify with us. This situation is tricky and we are currently engaging legal procedures against this individual. We are currently working on our own solution. Any "upgrade" from Everest offered by this website is unauthorized and therefor if something happen during this process we won't be able to help you in any way.
    Slightly worrying?

Well I like the new one better. I am wondering if there will be any Alphacool LCD support. Everest was supported so I have a bunch of monitoring functions on my LCD panel that now do not show up.

Hell no. Follow the developer. How are they going to fix Everest or do any upgrades without the guy who does all that?!? The new system seems to run smoother and faster.

Does the new version have the same kind of Logitech G15/G19 LCD support? I found that extremely useful. The LCD on those keyboards is kind of gimmicky with most games built in support for it, but the ability to use it to monitor your CPU/GPU/Mem Utilization and Temps when inside of games was awesome.

The LCD feature is not only kept, but also has been optimized to consume less CPU power.

It was Lavalys's response when asked about the free upgrade and why there was no mention of it on their site.

    thats kinda what i expected

i dont see how they could legally do anything though. if i wanted to give out a free program to only those with a valid win7 key, why would microsoft get mad at me? i can understand some issues if it overwrites the old program, but its a choice of the user to install it.

Too bad I can't find my stupid license email otherwise I would upgrade to it. I may try the trial version just to see if it does a better job of reporting voltages on the RE3.

I know Fiery since long time (14 years?, since the days of his first ASMDEMO) and he's a very fine, extremely helpful and polite guy. It was always a pleasure for me to work with him. I know a bit about the background of this story, I know a lot about the past and a bit about the near future.. The fact is, that all the AIDAs and Everest were his babies. The thing with Lavalys was a step back - they have not fulfiled their duties, damaged the company and violated the agreements. So the whole partnership was terminated. All the IP rights remain (and always have been) on Fiery's side. So what currently happens, is that Lavalys didn't publish the TRUTH - Lavalys is violating the law by selling software for which they do not have the rights anymore ! Poor customers that buy now from Lavalys..
It would be nice if ppl could spread this fact to as many places as possible.
