    @Notechis:

Looks like you have that on too tight, you can see the card warping. No need to be so tight that it warps the card, It could damage it (i.e. could make the GPU break contact with some BGA pads)

Just throw a gpu only block on like I did. You could probably find one for 40-50 bucks(less if used) and use it for multiple cards. Throw some good 'sinks on the mem and vregs and you are good to go. Palit and I believe Gainward are g92 spacing so no extra bracket needed. Plus swiftech should( if their smart) have a reference adapter for all the other 460's.

that could be distortion from the camera

Don't think so, if that were the case the slanted background would also be distorted, however it's not.

Edit: I did look at the other photo's and could see a slight curve at the edges, so the camera could be making the card look more
    warped than it is.

    Thanks
I checked my card, but it doesn't look like it's warped. Well maybe in the middle, (checked it with a ruler , otherwise it look straight) but my guess is that it's because of the weight of the cooler pushing down.
I've took another picture and you can see it that X-Fi which is above GTX is also warped at least on the picture so I think the camera must be slightly distorting images

In case it benefits anyone to know, the Prolimatech MK-13 fits the 768MB Palit card without any modifications to the heatsink.

Yep thanks. I was aware of this effect with wide angle lenses, however the photos don't look much like a wide angle lens was used unless the region was cropped from a wide angle photo. Anyhow its confirmed your correct the warp was caused by the lens.

And don't start me talking about the noise, Palit & Gainward are using powerlogic fans PLA08015B12HH which are rated 33.950CFM at 3500rpm and 37dB (I really doubt that, 50dB is more likely). It's like putting your head in a vacuum cleaner so I'm planing to put scythe slipstream 120mm 1200rpm to my HR-03. I've got 3 in my case and you can hardly hear them.
You guys must have quiet pc's. I cant even hear the fans on the cards at 65%. I have 6x scythe 133cfm ultrakazi fans running now, so even my 5870's at 80% seemed quiet.

MSI Cyclone OC wins on cooling, has a better HSF design.

Palit Sonic Platinum wins on performance, stock clocks are 800/1600/4000, MSI only 725/1350/3600.

Now you should be able to OC the MSI to match or exceed the Palit, however there is no guarantee that it will, but very likely it would. Also the Palit is smaller.

Sorry for the low quality, but I need a new memory card for my camera, so these are just camera phone pics. The PCI slot bracket clears the heatsink, but it is removed in the pics because the bracket isn't used in the HTPC case that I am using.

So the Prolimatech wont fit the MSI,GB,Asus... cards?
Looks like the palit is non reference.

Nope. The reference design uses different mounting holes. I am 99% sure that it won't fit the 1gb & 2gb palit cards either, because the second DVI port would be in the way.

Correct palit is non reference. however it sports the g92 bolt pattern so lots of aftermarket coolers and water blocks will fit, same with the gainward.

That was my reason for going with the palit, i had a dd maze5 water block on my 8800gt, and it bolted right on to the palit, did not even have to open up my loop another big plus!

Yes the second DVI port will be in the way. Only the 768mb palit version will work with that big hunk of "cool it down"

The prolimatech comes with a whole bunch of little heatsinks to use on the other chips of the memory card, so I am using those. Here is a link that has some better pics.
