If they are newer model CAS9 sticks they will work but 2000 speed will be dependent on how strong the memory controller is on your CPU. With that said, 2000 memory speed is pretty much useless for 24/7 anyway if you are looking towards performance. If they are they older CAS8 sticks the best performance I found with them is at 1600 CAS6.

How old is the drive? try the single SATA port that stick out by itself. See if your drive has a speed change from 1.5 to 3.0 jumper.

Did you try both 3GB and 6GB drive options in the BIOS?

Another flaw of this bios: Once the system has hardlocked or bsod'ed, the next boot is always unsuccesfull. I have to push the reset button to make it post agian.

I have the same fluctuating HTT issue as other guys, but it is non-issue for everyday use. It only gets nasty when you OC to the limits

Second problem I've found is that SIL SATA controller can't see my Samsung F1 750GB 32MB drive with Boot Room enabled. It simply sits at detecting screen for 2 minutes and then finds nothing. With Boot Room for SIL disabled and Windows booted up from another drive, the invisible F1 750GB is accessible!
It works fine though from SB850 SATA connectors, but due to my HDD setup I would prefer to boot F1 750GB from SIL controller which I can't at the moment :/

Samsung F1 1TB, Samsung T166 400GB and OCZ Solid SSD 30GB are detected on SIL controller fine.

@Bingo13 - is theoretically possible to set SB850 SATA channels 5 and 6 to RAID without setting first 4 channels to RAID as well? Will option like that (if possible) be implemented in future BIOS releases?
    Thanks!

A retail batched part is destined for a store so whether it comes off the line or out of a box or off a shelf does it really make it any diff? Week 15 chips are the past.....plenty of people have em btw just some FYI. Flanker is in another country has one, madd22 in asia has one....

When you can convince AMD that the smarter choice is to sell boxxed chips to a reseller, then buy them back for more money and then have me bench them you let me know.

You really need to research before you speak gappo this is week 19 atm, I received on week 17 and the chips are week 15.

Yeah all well and true, they are hitting stores now but didn't you get them before blackops? I just think calling it a retail looses meaning when your average joe can't go get one.

Your always one step ahead chew*! or 4 weeks in this case lol.

Well would you rather have me use ES or retail grade parts retail avg joe can get one just not the same day.

I got them week 17, I imagine resellers move old stock before selling new. So I can't call my retails retail anymore if i have a week before everyone else? Or am i allowed to call them retail only when others have the same week. I fail to see the point your getting at...basically. Average joe can compete with and buy a 1090T.

I have plenty of week 15 duds if you want to buy them so you don't feel left out. I said it before and i'll say it again, I binned a few 2 were good rest were ehhh.

Chips are only good becasue i took the time to bin. More chips you test the higher the chances to find a decent one, it's the basic law of averages.

Retail or "retai"l don't matter. All have etched batch and week on its hsf.

Unless peep got his hand on ACBBE, the only thing that matter is NB @>4300 with any given board

If peep have $3200 to spend then they can binned 10 pcs. of 1090T from Newegg....as simple as that then sell it/all and start it again

Better yet, open a used cpu store

I have two 1013 and one is good. I will keep torturing 'em untill it dies or get rid of. Then I will buy another 1090T and again and again

It doesnt matter peep got cpu for free or they actually spend money on it...The truth of the matter is unless peep have a lucky streak with one gem cpu, most of the time they have to binned a few or a dozen to find one or two that really good on air, water or ln2......make it 3 dozens

Now lets go back to Bios 0801...Shall we?

We seem to be varying a bit off topic here...

I've been on the quest for the perfect Week/Serial Number for the last 10 years and have never found the secret formula.
It all really comes down to "Luck of the Draw" unless your lucky enough to get hand tested chips from the manufacturer.
That being said, I'm going to go pick out a 1055 tomorrow (21 samples to choose from) so if anyone has any suggestions for a good week/Serial# I'm all ears...

I do have a couple question though.

    1) Does anyone know what "IOMMU" does under the Advanced/NB Chipset Config tab?
Would it help to enable it?

    2) I'm having a really hard time getting my machine to boot with an HTRef of 300 or greater (practice for the 1055 ). Everytime I try to boot at a high HTRef my machine hangs at the Win7 splash screen,
and even worse, it has trashed my Video Card drivers a couple times requiring a "System Restore" to get things back.
    I'm running a 4850/4870 Crossfire settup BTW...

Anyone know if the 300 HT is a limitation of the board, or is it just the 965 thats causing the problem?

    Thanks... Dave

Put 80 hours a week in like i do....stare at a memtest screen for another 20 hours a week, help endusers, never game or enjoy yourself and have very little time if any to bench and I'm sure you will get your wish. Did I forget to mention that all that needs to be done weekly without pay?

Point grass is not greener on other side of fence.

Dave you shouldn't have much issues until after 350 although depending on ram divider your using it could be straining your ram.

I am busting my hump to get the manufactuers to get 1/1 ram ratios working on ddr III boards....that should help out most average guys as 400HT with 1/1 ram divider = 1600 ram

I have already confirmed/debunked the myth that these chips aren't fond of HT and have been booting/benching at 420 HT.

Hi! F3s have compatibility problem with AMD SB850 chipset.
Here is a firmware upgrade for F3s solving this problem:
    http://www.samsung.com/global/busine...bbs_msg_id=308
And Here is a correct F/W Patch Procedure:
    1. Unzip "ASUS.EXE" file to DOS Bootable media (USB, CD, Floppy...etc).
    2. Remove all other SATA drives and put the F3 disk on the first SATA port.
    3. Boot the system to DOS.
    4. Run "ASUS" (without quotation marks!).
    5. When FW Flash successfully message displays, please Power OFF system, to make F/W flash complete.
NOTE: Please DO NOT warm boot (Ctrl+Alt+Delete, or push Reset button..etc) your PC after the F/W patch !!!
Warm boot can make F/W Patch fail and make unexpected problem on HDD.
    6. Restart the system normally.

    I'm running a 4850/4870 Crossfire settup BTW...
Dave, just don't boot into windows whenever testing high ht refclock or high mem clocks/tight timings.

Whenever i do one of the above testing i always boot into memtest86 from a thumbdrive. (push F8 in postscreen and select bootable device)

This has save me many many headaches. Once i found settings that survive a number of loops of test 1,2,3 and maybe test 4, i'm brave enough to put my Windows install on the line.

When i'm testin ram i usuallly run test 1,2 and 3 cause they don't take long and then at least 3 loops of test 5.

Zeus: Thanks for the advice man... Believe it or not, I actually know where my gear is somewhat stable and I try to keep things in range...

When I push the HTRef, I make sure all the other clocks are well below my known stable state... I don't try to push everything at once, that leads to madness...

    Even with the CPU @ 3800, IMC @ 2400 and Mem @ 1600 I still can't boot at 300 HTRef.

Personally, I find Memtest86 a little boring, but I'll take your advice and test memory a little more before I try higher HT clocks.

I'm going to go pick up a 1055 tommorow to go with the new C4F....
And it will all start anew. Hehe...

I may not be as skilled as some of you BigDogs, but playing with stuff is 90% of the fun!
And I do test quite a bit, even though some of my questions may seem noobish...

Thanks for your advice bro, I'm sure this won't be the last you hear form me this weekend...

The board has no problems booting with 300 and above. Might be CPU, memory speed or voltages.
