Hope you find a gem! On a side note, that's the most robust looking stock intel HSF I've ever seen.

    RE: Whiny fan

Nidec makes a top end rotor. (look at the Gentle Typhoon!)
I would be a little concerned about the tight fin spacing though. Definitely a dust collector.

Of course no respected overclocker is going to use the stock cooler, right? Right???!

Some of the sites reviewed the 980 cooler when they reviewed the 980.
Pretty good as far as stock coolers go but you can do better with the top end after market coolers.
This cooler had good cooling with the fan on high, seems like the fan on high was rather on the loud side if I remember right.

Yes the stock cooler is the best Intel has come out with. Just saying! Still no match for the best aftermarket (VX/Mega etc.). Fan is loud but put a 480 in there and you'll never hear it when gaming.

Batch looks good with voltage and speed however it would need a better test for stability. Try running 512MB LinX for 300 minutes. If it's error free that's good! Stock cooler should handle that due to the smaller size. If it stays under 90C on ALL mem for 5 hours that's outstanding. (or you live in a very cold room! )
