Jeez! Good job Asus! The heatsink is buttugly but i do like the board a lot! I'm wondering what this Crosshair IV Extreme has over the Crosshair IV Formula?

    Looks good.
I can think of a couple of things that could be changed, though: a) some active cooling for the chipset and b) the RAM slots could be further away from the socket.

It is quite clear that the Formula's capabilities are top-end, which can only mean that the RoG Crosshair IV Extreme is meant for overclocking enthusiasts. This fact is confirmed by the configuration that ASUS will be using to prove the might of its board. The Extreme is combined with an AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition and no less than four ASUS EAH5870 graphics cards. Still, what is most impressive is the unusual ability of this mainboard to be overclocked via a Windows mobile phone through use of the ROG Connect and RC Bluetooth.
Overclocking via a mobile phone?? wtf?

I will buy the Crosshair-IV for sure if Thuban is good enough....

The Formula variant will not be that expensive and the overall package looks sweet, i would like to compare it to my MSi GD70 tough.

Goddamn it! I was hoping to see such a board, with that color scheme and was wondering why Crosshair III doesn't have the colors of Maximus III. I own Crosshair III, my Dominator GTX2's are on the way to me, so this board is the perfect finish of my setup - all red and black. I'm so excited! And put together with some full cover block...sweetness!

The spacing isn't as important to me as much as certain chip placement is or the lack of certain chips

Just what I was posting in the ROG feedback thread too, about how they need to do a red/black themed board (you know, just like amd/ati's colors.... not blue/white/black/etc), and they've hit the nail on the head with everything else I need. Onboard power/reset buttons (cleaner look for torture rack), the colors of course, PLENTY of right angle sata connections (8 right angle, +1 normal on the extreme !!), 4xpci-e, measurement points (on extreme, which is what I'm looking at anyway), alot of fan connectors, core unlocker, ONBOARD AUDIO (not that stupid card that comes with the C3F), the color scheme (again), etc.

You name the price and I'll buy it, $9999.99? I'll take it, right now!

That ASUS 890FX board does look good, only problem that it only has one LAN port, I prefer having dual LAN or more. But its still a good looking board. Now Gigabyte has to show their 890FX board which I'm looking forward too.

here is one of the first review of the 890GX that I wrote, http://www.erodov.com/forums/amd-890...iew/30926.html

    Conclusion

The single biggest selling point for this motherboard is the great form factor combined with a plethora of options when it comes to I/O ports and an integrated IGP that can easily form the base for your HTPC setup. If you are looking to freshen up your system on a budget and are looking to giving it a new leash on life… this is the right board for the job. The $110-$130 estimate street price of the motherboard will make it an ideal choice given its options and features.

However, if you have a ton of SATA 2 drivers (and USB 2.0 devices) and are not planning on a major overhaul any time soon, a upgrade to this motherboard won’t give you a noticeable difference. You will be better of sticking to your existing AMD setup and waiting it out.

Now there is no NDA. Post away without fear of RIAA lawsuit, corporate retaliation, stoning, beheading, flaming, planking, or electrocution.

I'd be interested to see the boards OCing ability. I still doubt i'd get the board for my main because I can't stand the thought of only having 4 expansion slots.
