    mcp350 to 355 mod?

I heard that the mcp350 could be modded with a little soldering to perform like the 355... Still possible?

    Been looking at getting this:

    nice, saves me $15

another little question. How much does a Y fitting restrict flow? Im thinking of using it as a fill line placed right before the inlet of that pump.

Not much, but I would think a T should be better. I wouldn't worry about a single Y or T, though.

I just done this mod to my 10w Laing DDC and it worked for me, I haven't got round to fitting the pump into my system yet, but I have tested it in a small loop outside my case, and it seems to be just fine..

Very simple mod to do, I managed it, and I'm hopeless with a soldering iron!

EK X-top V2 is slightly better

About pump I havent heard that swiftech would be already distributing DDC-3.15 and 3.25 under same names mcp350 and 355 so that one still should be rebranded DDC-3.1 and 18w mod would work fine!

    Like this?

    Maybe I got a DDC3.15? It doesn't match Martin's pic.

I'm gonna say that you got a 3.1 with a newer PCB on it. It could be that Laing is using the same PCB for both the 3.x and 3.x5 models with just some slightly different components/better windings. Last I heard, Swiftech hadn't gotten any 3.x5 yet and that they (3.x5's) actually had a 2 tone impeller.

For your original question, it looks like you'd need to move the yellow wire over to the left as you suggested.

    Thanks waterlogged
Should I just bridge them or actually move the wire?

Now you got me wondering if his pump is mislabeled. Did you ever get to head pressure testing the pmp400 after your flow tests? That may very well be one of the few true ways to tell the difference.

@ Burninator, does it appear that there is another label underneath the Swiftech label. . .can you peel the Swifty label off and post what the other label says?

    Guess it is a DDC3.1?

pmp400 is what Koolance calls the 3.25, at least, this is what we've been told.

As for your dilemma, I'm suddenly not so sure anymore.

So if I were to re-solder the yellow wire on the left... any ideas on what would happen if it wasn't the right thing to do? Boom headshot to my pump?

    That could be one outcome.

Myself, I'd still go ahead but after some careful observations of the PCB and probably some poking and prodding with a DMM. I've now torched enough hardware in my lifetime that it almost doesn't phase me anymore. The 3 I took the hardest were all DDC-2's, I still weep over losing them.
