St I just ordered Windows 7 Pro with Intel X25-M 160GB SSD and now I read this.

It's all over for Microsoft
the INQUIRER Monday, 2 November
THE LATEST figures from Net Applications suggest that Windows 7 has failed to attract any interest and the Mac is set to become the dominant operating system in the World.
According to Electronista, the launch of Windows 7 a week ago failed to dent Apple's meteoric rise in the operating system market in October.
Although the Microsoft OS was on sale for a staggering nine days last month, Windows' combined share of Internet traffic actually dropped to 92.52 per cent while Mac OS X increased to control a whopping 5.27 per cent of the market.
Since Windows 7 has been out it's totally failed to take more than 2.15 per cent of the market.
Yea, right, it it retail less than 2 weeks ago and is supposed to get a huge chunk of market.
Wonder when the hell they gathered these statistics, probably way before October 22nd.
Bulldozer can't show up fast enough either. Bulldozer better live up to THIS: Image
It will either make history or make AMD history if it doesn't. Intel's thread count is getting higher than Fugger's bed sheets!
This is nonsense. I claim OS-X will never be the dominant os. One of the reasons being the lack of support for businesses on Apple's side. OS-X is great for home and private use but not for companies. But using Win 7 made me smile. Finally MS has improved in the field it lacked most: the GUI.
Sure it's sarcastic.
As for some questioning if this is a news. I say it's not any less of a news than most of the Fudzilla, SemiAccurate or Bright Side Of News threads in the Xtreme News Forum.

That's the same number they were telling us 5 years ago. Sure looks like a meteor to me.

As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.
Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.
Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.
Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.
Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

sorry but os x will never catch up to or even come close to windows until they open it up with support to run on any compter, and not make it just for their hardware...

This is why we need a separate area for these sites
so Win7 is taking over 1% of the market per week, and thats from retail sales, everyone with the RTM has probably switched 20-50% of their computers over.
at this rate in a year, Win7 will be dominating every other OS out there.
Seriously, anybody I talk to about apple and their "Dominance" are clueless pawns of fashion over function. I usually give them the "ya apple is awesome" treatment, and chuckle as they spend a solid $700 more than a superior hardware config that I could put together.

If MS has dropped to 92.52% and OS X has a whooping 5.27% it is clear by now that MS will eventually be bankrupt in the following months. It's a no brainer and whoever doesn't see this must be blind.
If OS X was to open up to all hardware and all usage patterns available, have all the software that is available for Windows, software built by different software companies, Windows Millenium would seem stable...
Do none of you know that Windows 7 was written by Apple? This is 100%, Apple will soon have a HUGE market share with W7 and Microsoft, while still developing a new service pack for Windows Vista, is going to fall very far back. Microsoft and Windows are both past their sell-by date.
MS can't stop Mac OS X because it's like stopping a flea on a dog proportionally speaking. Not saying that its impossible but highly unlikely that Mac will take the computer world by storm any time soon, Windows is simply too imbedded...

I use a mac for xcode because my cs department switched to macs for some unknown reason. I would have preferred to stay with visual studio, since all my programming is in C++ with OpenGL. I hate dealing with compatibility...
BTW, the keyboard lights never turn off while you're in windows on the macbook pros. And you wonder why you can't match the battery life, they sabotage it.
If people just need a computer for internet, music, etc., why wouldn't they just go for what's cheaper? Buy a PC, save some money, go buy some music.
