    8800GT is 9" (230mm), the reviewed HD5750 is 7" (180mm).
    65nm 8800GT draws ~80W at 3D, 55nm 8/9800GT ~60W. HD5750 should be 50-60W.
You were not supposed to see this.

The card in the test/bench was a 5750.

    5750- 800SPs, 40TMUs, 16ROPs, 128bit, 1150mhz GDDR5 and 700mhz core.

Which it should be performing a bit better than a 4850.

    The 5770 is supposedly still a Juniper w/ 1120SPs, 56TMUs and 128bit. I haven't heard any confirmation on clocks but I would guess ~800mhz core and 1200-1250mhz GDDR5.
Nice to hear - should also be a nice card for cGPU purposes as its processing power almost matches the HD5850

Cheers. Possibly know how the 5850 compares to the 8800gt in the same stats?

Really nice performance for a little card.... if it is $150 or less, it'll be a nice deal.
Looks like it'll fit in many cases...

    5850 has a TDP of 150w, same as 4870.
Anandtech showed the 5850 using less power than a 4870 though... a good 20-35w less.
    5850 is close to a GTS250, pulls ~10w more.

    Edit- 5850 is ~9.5in

i have heard that they include memory in the tdp. that would make sense for explaining the 5870's power consumption.

TDP is the total board power consumption, not just the GPU...
It has been like that for awhile.

I am eagerly awaiting for these for my HTPC so I can do some gaming on it as well. It really is looking like it may be worth the $70 more for the 5850 though compared to the 5770 at $200.
    HTPC - AMD Phenom II 555 Unlocked(4cores) - 4GB Gskill - AMD HD 5850 - Avermedia Duet - Harman Kardon avr247 - Surround Sound (Infinity Beta 50's, 10's, 360, and ed a2-300) - Samsung 46"

Desktop Powerhouse PC - Gathering dust due to high usage of HTPC as general pc now

Nope, I'm guessing $179-199 since it should be around a 4890.

Edit- Whoops, reread what you said. It hopefully will drop a bit towards the end of the year, Dec/Jan.
I don't expect it to go any lower than ~$140-150 until Nvidia comes out with something to compete with it.

You are probably right on the prices...
I like seeing the new gen's high end card's amazing performance... BUT it is really neat when your $300 deal of the day 4870 card from last year is matched by a new gen card that costs $1xx and supports the new DirectX...
Of course I don't like the value of my last years cards going down...
It will be interesting to see what Nvidia has to offer again like last year...

i hope 5770 can clock. 5850 kinda let me down after people w/ 5870 are reporting 1GHz stable air clocks.

I wish all the 5 series had standard power plugs on the side of the PCB instead of this wherever it fits placement.
