    Propus die photo

    Strange....

This die photo pops up in an AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE Review.
The 550 BE is a Deneb with two cores disabled and with 6MB L3.

The photo is a quad core with 4x512kB L2 and no L3 which should
    be Propus...

    Roughly 168 mm^2

    Regards, Hans

It is 512kb x 4 = 2mb? correct? Wonder how much not have l3 caching will hurt it. Some good comparisons between this and ph 2 are needed

    Great find hans!

For photoediting/rendering, 3D I think the impact will be minimal. Benchmarks on the other hand...

Looks like that, judging from the size. I wonder what the thing on the middle of left and right edge is, looks like cache? some kind of HT buffers or what?

is not just the L3 that matters but the norther bridge speed.

Pretty sexy looking die. Really curious to see one of these things in the wild and see how she performs.

i think a 200mhz difference will be enough to make that quad perform as good as a deneb, best performance per mm^2 of any chip i bet

    wow.. nice find Hans!

168mm2 sounds like the goods for a bargin quad!

Hopefully quite low power too.. judging by Regor @ 3Ghz, especially with the reduced frequency and Voltage northbridge!
