    Hunting 2nd place 3DMark 2006!

    Bought myself a 4890 yesterday, after seeing the GREAT scores Andre made with them. I borrowed 2 other cards from my work also.. so testing 3DMark 2006 with Xfire was my one priority

    Seems like my cards dont like over 1000Mhz mem, I loose about 30fps in deep freeze.. anyone know something about that? Pretty easy running in the beginning, breaking the Xeon cpu in...

    Rig used:

    Intel Xeon W3540
    EVGA Classified E759 (seems like the NF200 chip works okey)
    ASUS 4890 x 3 Stock Cooling
    Kingston 2000Mhz 9-9-9-24
    Corsair HX1000
    Cascade Cooling on cpu -85C in cpu tests

    Hoping for even higher scores later, will be testing a while.. Need to get some LN2 for this cpu, 5.3Ghz++ is possible.

    I don't think it's 2nd place. You just need to check hwbot. If driver approved, it would see a lot of people results on ORB.

    Nice score, 59 points higher than mine. Guess I'll have to put my 4870x2s under chilled liquid RV770 will slap around RV790 if I have my way with it Can't wait to see what you can pull with that CPU under LN2!

    good stuff, seems like 2k6 / 2k5 just got a level up of 1-2k ~ this period.
    I tried a pcie riser on the third slot for a fourth card and could quad fire them, basically connect third card (on a riser) to 1st card to second card to fourth card. So in windows you connect moinitor to either third card or fourth card (start or end of the chain).
    of course you need to switch monitor to first card if wanna see in DOS
    Though the GT1/2 may suffer a bit in 4 cards - seemingly bit more calculations for cpu to do

    I heard GDDR5 has data recovery and signal resynch mechanisms that would be triggered by too high of a OC resulting in decreased perf but without visual glitches to notice. Maybe this is what you are witnessing there.

    Nice 2K6 I ordered same VGA ... Tri CrossfireX of 4890 seems to be faster than 2 4870X2.

    working with LN2 now, having a hard time to break 230Mhz.. any tips..? should I buy some elpida chips..?
