Xfx Power Supply Debut Looks Promising

    Source: http://www.pcper.com/#NewsID-7201

It looks promising. The PSUs look good if not a little machine like. XFX is launching power supplies likely by this post on PCPER and these are no joke for any two card system. Single 12V rail, 80PLUS Silver. All japanese caps and 135mm fan. Looks good. I guess we will see what this can do if we see it at Computex, according to the report, or soon after.

I actually think it looks pretty wicked.

Seems promising, guess we will know when reviews start sprouting up.

Well if the price and performance is right....

Interesting how it is basically one huge 12V power supply, with the 3.3V and 5V coming off of it.

I usually don't go for flashy, but that looks amazing. Whether they are good or not is a simple matter of who the manufacturer is. Anybody know yet?

Thanks...I just spit Pepsi all over my screen. If the internals are good then all is fine but until we find that out, it just looks hideous IMO.

If this was another manufacturer, I am sure the comments would be VERY different.

I agree, I just threw up in my mouth a little. I'm speechless.
Modular with a huge 12v rail, though.

    Who is the OEM?

Wonder how many days they are on the market until Ultra sues them for the "modular" design.

Actually, due to Ultra flexing its patents, all of the PSU guys are currently either:

    Paying royalties to Ultra

    Or

Releasing modular PSUs in the EU and fixed cable units here in NA.

As for the OEM, the pictures you see above are mock-ups from a design agency so there wouldn't be any way to tell even if it was the final design.

    +1

i'm all for companies introducing new ideas and designs into the market, but that looks horrible. but really, it's all about price/performance. they're entering a very competitive part of the psu market, where there are well established companies with good products. i wish xfx the best of luck.

I'm not sure what to think about the aesthetics, in certain situations it would look badass but in others it would look super tacky.

As long as they use a quality OEM, which they probably will, this should be a nice PSU.

I don't think RAIDMAX makes their own, RAIDMAX doesn't have any silver PSUs. They have two bronze. Not them,

All solid polymer capacitors?? I don't think I've ever seen that in a PSU, I wanna see the inside!

No. They said that there would be solid caps but not ALL solid caps. You will notice that one of the other bullet points mentions standard 105C caps.

Most higher-end designs these days feature a number of solid polymer caps.

CWT does have an 80+ silver 850W. 88%. And, the packaging would fit and look nice. They also have a 1300 silver which would be a good step up for a 1200 or so.

I may be wrong, but isn't CWT the largest PSU manufacturer?
