Core 2 Duo E8700 Gets Listed

Although Intel made the Core 2 Duo E8700 official as early as in January, the chip showed little or no signs of reaching retail. Even the most popular retailers in US and EU don't offer this chip, and continue to sell the Core 2 Duo E8600 at its target price range of US $250~$270. Chinese retailer PCPop started listing E8700, at a price that displaces E8600: 1750 Yuan (US $256). While the store doesn't list E8600 so we could tell to which extant it is displaced, its nearest neighbour E8500 is priced at 1210 Yuan ($177), showing that the displacement may affect the price of E8600 to a greater extant than it would to its lower models, as E8500 remains at its common price. The E8700 is clocked at 3.50 GHz, with an FSB speed of 1333 MHz, and a bus multiplier of 10.5x. Despite its high clock speed, the processor continues to come with a rated TDP of 65W.

What rules? I can't imagine a rule that states you cannot buy things and then sell them for more than you paid? If so, ban me on the spot, I do it everyday to pay the rent and eat some food

I made a joke about comission! Sorry if it was over your head,

But as I said, my wife phoned the shop and they said they will be stock next week! If they are I will go and check them out and get a few batch numbers and details off the box, may even get one myself. I have a brand new 45 UD3L awaiting a cpu!

I will keep you informed, but if the E8700 hits the Shinghai shops before the USA it will be a first in the 5 years I have been here. I have to wait 6-9 months before anything new comes in the shops, the Velociraptor became available here and then that was on newegg.com.cn.

Most of the new hardware comes in from HK or SG at a very inflatted price. But we have Hardcore Game Players here who must have the latest and fastest TOYs to play with

    lul wut

The dude's post merely mentioned within the context of a larger vaild pont (that they'd be being sold soon in China) that at some future date they would be doing something. No mention of a final figure, or soliciting for sales. Nothing in the rules against that.

If only Intel was that smart (or stupid, depending on how you see it)
The little air system that could.

Maybe we can start lobbying the EU to pressure Intel to have all their european versions of this particular processor come with unlocked multis?

I do understand what you're saying. My one and only problem with Intel is this particular lock down on multi. Drives me nuts.

Will get the wife to phone on monday

Well it would be difficult to close this thread as I have posted the link and phoned up the shop in question. Still can not find any other retailer with details on their web site. But the wife did speak to them (in Chinese so no translation problems).

    http://product.pcpop.com/000150525/3/AreaPrice.html

So even with a 20% O/C it should put you in the 4ghz range. So 4.5 or even 5ghz should be in range of some O/C Wizzards!

If Intel did unlock their CPUs just think how many more they would sell to replace the ones we all would burn out!

Yeah I don't really think the e87 threads should get deleted either. If it's for real it's by far the most interesting post in the news section in months to me at least.
