convert mpeg4 to something jasc will recognize?

I have a video i want to make into my avatar (winamp plugin i made) and i can record it in either like intel indeo video 4.5, mpeg4, or Microsoft video, none of which Jasc paintshop will let me open and make into a gif. Thanks for any help.

If it possible for you to take screenshoits and make them into a gif? This would probably consume less bandwidth (better for the site) also Paintshop comes with an easy to use animation programs which allows you to animate a load of images.

but itll look better with a lot of frames and lower resolution than it will at a high resolution and fewer frames.

Or just a screen capture program that lets you make it a standard avi or mpeg without any encoding? (<-- doesnt even know what files jasc can read)
