Yeah, to really push a a pair of 4870X2's you would need a 30" monitor and have to have every graphic option maxxed. Theres been a few reviews out there that show high resolutions plus lots of eyecandy (AA, etc) really puts the 4870X2 in a league of its own.

Would two MCR220 radiators even cool this in a loop with a Q6600 at 3.6ghz/1.4v?

I'm buying 2 HD4870X2's in the next day or two (need to finalize the rest of my build) and I haven't found any decent WC options for these. ASETEK is supposed to have something out but can't find them anywhere. Who or what is 'Eddy' so I can order a couple of these?

Quote for truth!

two x2's = 1200 dollars. whats another 350 for full cover blocks?

If 350 is too much, just strap on four mcw60s!

The 3870 X2 block had backplates, so I would imagine that will be the case with these.

Actually four MCW60's will fit quite well. But I don't want to hi-jack this thread. so we'll start a new one about the subject matter.

If I had one or two of those cards, i'd totally do it! I've never been a fan of full cover blocks anyways that end up being useless after you invest in a new card.

wasn't there some concern about cooling the plx chip that 2 mcw-60s couldn't do?

Nothing that a small heatsink and mini-kaze couldn't handle, i'm sure. You could plug the kaze right into the stock cooler pins!
