    Pump Died

Every morning when I get up, I head straight to my computer to check weather and stuff..

This morning when i came to my computer i noticed it was off while my other rig was on. Started to look around inside the case feeling the tubing and noticed that the tubing around the CPU was REALLY HOT.

Tried to turn the computer back on and everything turns on but the pump..

only after 6months.. DDC3.2 from petras.. is this common? also i notice around the barb a small amount of water leak.. after 6months it wants to leak now?

which barb (inlet or outlet) maybe something got loose and is blocking up your loop and your pump saw low flow and high pressure. maybe...

Time to drain the loop and take a look at the pump.

I also wonder if the pump is sitting on something like gel ?

What sort of sound dampening material? something where air can flow a little bit like sponge or mesh. Or something that would cause the pump to overheat, like gel?

Might be caused by overheating but we cannot be sure before you drain it and test the pump alone. It might also be caused by a loose molex.

Never call anything dead before you are sure it is. We don't want to bury something which isn't dead

Exact, doesn't apply to the D5, only the DDC. The deaths we saw is almost surely tied to the burning of the pcb due to no airflow. Sitting it on gel or anything which block airflow will cause it to overheat.

The other DDC 3.2 death I saw here was caused by the gel melting and oozing in the pcb board, killing it. But on the DDC2, there are lots of reports with no oozing but burn marks (DDC2 might be stronger but generate lots of heat, causing their early death with no sufficient airflow).

no... that is a mat, the substance there talking about is a Gell. It looks like a gell, feels like a gell, and melts like one too. :P

Man.. now im worried... The 3.2's were suposed to be a lot more durable then the DDC-2's. And people related the failure more due to the impeller then the heat.

Ask Pete, he'll tell you exact differences between an old ddc and a new one.

But bah... this isnt good. If you bought it at petras' id sent it back to alex. He'd probably take it apart and find out why it died.

So the gel is bad? My pump has been running with the Gel from Petra's Tech under it for 5 months now... I have the MCP355 with Petra's Top on it.

Never gave me any problems what so ever yet.

Is it not running at all, or just not starting? Did you take it apart yet?
