I'm sure it's more to do with production volume. I'm sure in a few weeks we'll see them back on the market again. I'm just wondering at what price. By then people will have volt modded and used extreme cooling solutions and totally push the 3870 and of course drivers will have been released. Might spark even more interest in the product line. It also doesn't help that many people can use then in duel CF and some tri and few quad CF. So that just makes the demand even higher. I know I need 2 more. I should have just purchased 3 when I had the chance to. Just didn't want to spend $40 more than I had to.
Not to mention to get a gross of $1M they would have to sell 4,567 cards. And for profit assuming %15 markup from cost 22,832 cards. That's a hell of a lot of video cards. I'm sure their are still more in transit and we'll see them appear soon. I HOPE.

You rang?
I was drunk in canada thats what
Anyways did some "untweaked" benching today at 3.9ghz (437x9)
Setup:
Asus Maximus Formula SE - BIOS 0701...
DRAM STATIC READ - DISABLED
DRAM CLOCK TWISTER - LIGHT
TRANSACTION BOOSTER - DISABLED (2)
RAM @ DDR2 1048 5-5-5-15
CPU @ 3.93ghz (437x9)
Vista x64
Dual Diamond HD3870's Crossfire @ 850/1151 (Catalyst 8.43RC3 w/ Crysis Hotfix)
3d06- 19568 (little slow, needs a new driver)
3d05- 25507
pcmark05- 12338
Could not publish results, HD3870's are appearing as "Generic VGA" according to Futuremark.
3d05 w/ validation
3d06- with publish error.
Initial Thoughts? HD3870s are kickass cards in games thus far...and they bench much better than the HD2900XT 1GB (did some single card testing, but wasnt worth posting because the real fun is in xfire)
Asus Maximus crap BIOS is holding me from using higher FSB @ 3.9-4ghz...as well as higher ram speed due to the dividers being borked. ATI needs to release big with Catalyst 7.11 or 7.12 and 3870 will be well worth the money for 2 of them, from testing Crossfire seems to be lacking in Vista.
Sorry for the delay, more to come as I get it :p

Sorry guys, I flew out late last night for a wedding in Dallas. I actually just got home and immediately turned my rig on. Won't be doing any benching tonight.
But to clarify what drivers I have right now:
7.11 (based from 8.43 RC4)
Using this one currently (7.11 based off of 8.44 RC3)

In a nutshell:
Quote:
...He's been testing a HD3870, and like pretty much all reviewers who have OCd the card, reached ~860MHz.
He said, that ATI has already released a new BIOS to fix an issue with the current/review cards they have the PLL VIO divider set wrong, which prevents the cards from reaching over 862MHz on core...

I can say from use, that the 3870 performs better in games than the 2900XT did.

Do you have any numbers? It's basically the same card with a halved memory interface. I find it improbable that it would perform consistently better, save the slight upgrade due to the 3.5% core clock increase.

So from what I see here CF these cards isn't really worth it?
Although a boost in 3dm is nice for the epeen, i'm only interested in performance gains in games tbh, from what has been reported it doesn't look that good.
Sure immature drivers etc may be a factor but the 2900 had the same excuse and those magical drivers never really transpired...
I'd really appreciate it if you guys who actually have the CF set-up rack up a few real world game bench results, preferably new titles such as crysis, cod4, ut3 demo, world in conflict, hl2 ep2 etc. Please?
My native res is 1920x1200 so that is really what I'm interested in
I really fancy selling the 88gt to buy two 3870's but if CF isn't working with new games/not much of a boost then I'd rather save my £ and wait for the next gen flagship models and get a single card solution - hopefully they will drop in early 08.
Thanks
