Well, for the BEST overclock you'd get a QX9770. If you're on a budget like most of us, then get the best 45nm that you're willing to pay for.

bought the GTX260 (trade up EVGA) but for some reason I am getting major lag that I didn't get before. Even when viewing pictures and trying to move a big picture up and down (too see the whole picture) but I also noticed it in Unreal 2004

Has anyone seen something like this? Could it be the latest Nvidia drivers? I've been trying everything I can think of. I went from a 9800GTX to the GTX260

    thanks

    EDIT:returned the card for RMA

Wow man, the rig just popped itself!

    TRipped the appartment fuze box.

    Strange cooking smell.

Wierd, was just sitting there idle, not long turned it on, clean as.... and only a paltry OC to 3 Ghz. Maybe was just the power unit, but i fear the linger smell is not from the power box...OOOhh.... can't be my Q6600... i had it stable as man... ran at 50% load for hours.

I got about 3 waranties on this thing, so i'm going to the maker and we get a little analyticals.

    ....Back soon, take a pill.....

Does anyone recommend any other memory besides Corsair Dominator 1066Mhz? Using the Maximus Forumla. I was thinking about G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1100 (PC2 8800) the board says it will go to 1200Mhz on RAM but O.C.
So I am not sure if it means I can install something like the G.Skill or OCZ at higher than 1066.
I am in the process of RMA for the second time on the Dominator memory and to say that I am unhappy is an under statement. Around Thanksgiving it will be 1 year since I built this machine and every six month it seems the Dominator 1066 seems to fail one stick. Memtest86+ fails every test (sea of red)

Any suggestions would be great.... thanks

I had about the same luck as you with Dominator's on this board. Bought some G. Skill(2x2gb) pc-8000(pq) running 1081mhz and havent had a prob. in the last 8 month's.
I would say get the G. Skills they seem to work good on this board

thanks friend funny part is I started to scan through the board and found that almost 75% maybe more are using GSkill ram so I bought the 4G kit of 1066 I will hopefully get the RAM today from Newegg.
I sent out the Dominator RAM for RMA but I plan on possibly selling it

just popped in the Gskill 4G kit 8500 I hope this memory last longer than the Dominator memory. At some point I think I need to sell off the RMA'd Dominator memory or keep it as spare memory. hutkikz what bios revision are you using with your GSkill?

    thanks

Here is the PC Probe voltage reading can anyone tell me if I have my voltage too high for my new RAM and if I do have it too high how do I set it to the correct voltage so I do not hurt this memory

I'm using Rampage bios 0501 because of my current E8600 but my fav is 0308. I was able to run 1066 5-4-4-12 1N w\ these sticks on 0308. havent used MF bios since 0903

Edit: G Skills dont really respond to high volts I usually dont need more than 2.0v on mine

reason to use the Rampage seems to be if you have the 45nm processor
    I still have 65nm Q6600

THe FBS strapped to North Bridge at 333 what will that get me?

    thanks

Well, I'm familiar to Intel data sheets and X38 won't die 'till around a hundred °C.
PSU RPM is 1420-1500 max., different case fans (Noctua/Scythe/Loonies, even off do not change either CPU nor PSU RPM signifiatilly)

Everest is v4.20.1170, no different readings comparing various software including PC Probe II V1.04.40. Hardware Monitor f. s. as well.

BIOS, I'm back to 0401 because I recognized Die/Core readings given most realistic values for my QX6850. Got the whole pack 'till 1207, but I didn't try every version.

QX6850 is no engineering sample (none of those coming in little black PU-boxes).

If only the NB/SB-Temps would worry, I'd ask the hairdryer and and one of my thermal compounds to solve it (ref. P5W-DH, complete absence of TC on some early revisions).
My Maximus Formula is "7A..." prod. code.

Tryed different dual kits on my board. When going for Dominators check revisions, different ones could cause trouble (even same SPD's).
For your purpose I'd go for Micron Chips, D9GMH or D9GKX, even not listed in vendors QVL, MB will start with initial release BIOS all slots populated.
Depends as well a bit to your location and RMA regulations.
The only vendor I know granting chips is CellShock (preselected Microns, I've tested 30 passes Memtest 86+, no failure), but if you like orange heatspreaders, go for Crucial and check it out.
