i was never able to reach 3.1ghz on my fx62!! due to lack of voltage... it was 2.89 or something like that.. and i'm aware its socket am2.. but the difference between am2 and 939 is pretty small.. i was stuck on a really crappy ecs n-force 4ma... voltage could only go up about .4... piece of crap...

maybe its my high clocks i ran it w/ (887/1037) or something like that

i still needa ship this 2900pro off.. its still in my room sadly.. i havent been able to ship it! hope i don't get a complaint through ebay...

but anyway.. if i somehow i still can't ship it off when my q6600 and mobo come in.. imma give 3dmark another run just for another score

    Wewp!

Tested that speed stable with 40 continuous loops of the Crysis GPU benchmark on a high res with high settings.

Hey guys, sorry, I was doing some extended testing so I've been off the board. I think I was wrong about the memory voltage. Oddly enough, I'm not 100% stable across the board (splinter cell, bf2142) until I go down to near my original memory clocks. For that reason, I don't think this BIOS ups the memory voltage. The original statements regarding the GPU voltage hold true however. I'm doing a little cooling tweaking and I think I'm stable up to 931. I wish I had the better memory that most of the pros seem to have.

are u sure there's "better memory" on some 512s? And how much does it really matter real-world on these 512-bit cards anyway? Not too much as far as i can tell...

sorry.. i must have confused ur´s with someone else´s fx62...
but there u have the reason why u score that much better.
my cards are on stock xt-clocks (740/825)

as soon as i get my waterblocks i´ll flash them with the foxconn bios (880/950)

edit: i just saw that there are alot more modded bioses in that zipfile..

    For standard cooling...
    - Download BIOS with 880MHz Core, 950MHz Memory, 1.25v 3D Voltage

Below speeds download only with water or extreme cooling...
    - Download BIOS with 950MHz Core, 980MHz Memory, 1.35v 3D Voltage
    - Download BIOS with 1050MHz Core, 960MHz Memory, 1.35v 3D Voltage
    - Download BIOS with 1100MHz Core, 980MHz Memory, 1.35v 3D Voltage
    - Download BIOS with 1150MHz Core, 950MHz Memory, 1.2v 3D Voltage
    - Download BIOS with 1180MHz Core, 950MHz Memory, 1.2v 3D Voltage

anyone tried some of these or only the one with (880/950)?

Seems the newer pros tend to clock the memory higher; nothing scientific, it's probably just jealousy on my part that my mem won't clock for crap.

As for how much does it matter, I submit to you this:

i have noticed a very strange thing.

on the intro of HL2, where G-Man is talking, i have almost twice as many FPS with crossfire enabled. but when the game starts, it's the same with or without crossfire..(and yes, i have tried re-installed my drivers, even tried to re-install windows)

for example in the train when the game starts, the fps is EXACTLY the same.. and i have tried skipping to other parts in the game to see if there is a difference there. but its not

why? i dont understand why crossfire is just working in the intro

its work fine in css, s.t.a.l.k.e.r, 3dmark and all the games i have tried. even HL2 Lost Coast is working with and without Crossfire.. 154fps without Crossfire and 225 with crossfire enabled in Lost Coast stress test

i have tried to delete EVERYTHING that have to with valve/steam/hl2, even everything in the registry. and i tried a another video driver.. but no, still the same..

anyone have any idea? dont wanna re-install windows(again), if its not necessary.

can anyone in here try with crossfire enabled and disabled in HL2, just to see?

i would be VERY, VERY happy for that (or, happy for a solution, of course )

Hi guys , ive Just install my old asetek dyo on my sapphire 2900pro 512ddr3 , The temps now are 44idle 60c~ load after some crysis gpu bench loop at 800c@999mems , Pretty good i think for an 3 years old waterblock @ 25e .

    Question ,

Does anyone have modified his bios for higher core voltage [1.25 , 1.3 @ 2900pro 512mb ddr3...] and want to share with me ? [only the voltages not the core or rams freq.]

    Thnx Tom.

    Hey guys.

Just wondering if anyone is having difficulties oc'ing it in vista and dx10. I can go 820 core 1000 mem no problems with xp and dx9 games (and for dx9 games on vista the same) but in dx10 games (Crysis and COJ as an example) I get massive artifacts and have to set it at 750 core.

Could it be heat? With ATI Tool on XP I changed fan speeds, but with overdrive not even that you can do (and 900 mem is so conservative...)

Also does anyone know how to remove the overdrive settings? I am using Vista and the bleeding thing gets in the way of ATI Tool and Rivatuner (even if I set clocks on ati tool or riva it does not set them).

    Thanks.

I have similar issues, under XP I can bench and game fine at 800Mhz core, but in Vista mainly "White Out" and the COJ DX10 benchmark I have to lower the core to 776Mhz otherwise I get artifacts.

maybe it's the DX10 "part" of the chip..... ????

It's card load simply. DX10 loads and stresses the card more than DX9. If you run something like ATITool artifact checker, you would probably get artifacts at 800 Mhz both in XP and Vista.

Nope, in XP running ATI Tool no artifacts even @ 820 core. In Vista the same

I think you're right when you say that dx10 stresses the card more though.

Looks like not that much oc'ing when we get to dx10 only games...

But @ that time we will all have new VGA's

    Behave!

Yes, I'm with Pro bios, because its timings of RAM are better then XT. I,ve tryed with XT bios byt rezult was lower in Mark 06 then with Pro bios -90 Marks.

Hmm, I tried flashing the Sapphire 512MB XT bios on my Sapphire Pro 512MB but for some reason the first time I rebooted after a long time Windows finally detected the card and somewhat installed the drivers properly, but it was still acting weird and there were a ton of artifacts on the screen so I decided to reboot, and after rebooting I could not boot anymore, it just kept rebooting over and over again.

Does the XT use enough power that if I was just on the edge with the Pro (500W Antec EarthWatts PSU) it might not have been strong enough to power the XT?

After the release of the 3870 I've been wanting to get one of those but since I just got the Pro a month ago I don't want to waste my money just yet. I don't know whether I can get a good portion of my money back by selling the 2900 Pro since there really is no point in getting it now that the 3800 series has the same performance but with half the TDP. I guess the only thing the 2900 has over the 3800s is the 512-bit RAM, the 3800s AFAIK have 256-bit interface.

That dosen't sound to good bro... the XT bios should work fine on the pro provided you flash a 512mb card with the 512mb bios and 1gb with 1gb, which it looks like you did. Don't know why it wouldn't be working...

.... though the RAM on the 512mb cards seems to have been getting worse and worse, maybe it can't handle the speeds of the XT? But still it should run at the normal speeds as long as you are in 2d mode, which throws that theory out the window...

Power is indeed a suspect, what does your 12v rail put out?
