That takes big balls to do that up front and live in front of a big audience.

    Excellent work.

It's always best to quote the Matrix in times like these

I don't know the future...I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end, I came here to tell you how this is going to begin.

Where we go from there...is a choice I leave to you...

Brutal Display of Power! to qoute pantera. ok it was 'vulgar' but w/e

    But really, Excellent work.

It's very positive to see Intel embrace the enthusiast market, after long time of ignoring them completely.
at all I like the renewed intel much more than a few years ago. all these changes really gave tham a new start. it alsmost seems like 2 different companies.

And I think people should understand how big is this accomplishment. to think the old boring intel would let something like this happen, on it's flagship event, would be unbelievable.
but now it happens and it's huge if you ask me. this whole change in the mentality of such a big company is really great and welcomed.
very brave decision to do something like this onstage and it looks like a clear success. hopefully they keep this route in the future.

Intel brought up one of the notorious NDA breakers from XtremeSystems.org to show off their overclocking abilities on the new Yorkfield processor.

Hate to say it, but Intel FTW!
"To exist in this vast universe for a speck of time is the great gift of life. Our tiny sliver of time is our gift of life. It is our only life. The universe will go on, indifferent to our brief existence, but while we are here we touch not just part of that vastness, but also the lives around us. Life is the gift each of us has been given. Each life is our own and no one else's. It is precious beyond all counting. It is the greatest value we have. Cherish it for what it truly is."

Otellini's keynote this morning focuses on bringing extreme to the mainstream and during his talk about extreme overclocking, he invited Charles Wirth, owner of the renowned extreme overclocker site XtremeSystems.org onto the stage.

On stage, he broke the record for SuperPI 1M, which he achieved in eight seconds, followed by Aquamark 3 and Cinebench 10. He set scores of 273,000 for Aquamark 3 and over 20,000 for Cinebench 10.

We spoke to Charles after the keynote and he said that he's actually hit well over 23,000 in Cinebench 10 in the last few days. He also said that he hasn't hit his chip's maximum core speed yet.

As Wirth was leaving the stage, Otellini joked "call me when you hit 6GHz." Knowing how hard these guys push processors, I wouldn't be surprised if that happens long before the Penryn family launch on November 12th.
    Haha, Nice!

    Great job man.

Also it is great to see demonstratable results of future cpus, and 10 WR's.....WOW.

I think in the past overclocking was viewed as a troublesome niche by Intel whereas now it is viewed as a great avenue for marketing. I mean being top in all the benchmarks can only be good press. Times have definately changed for the better as far as overclocking is concerned.

Before, overclocking would'nt be advised by company... but now, there's competitions and even chip makers are now marketing their overclockability
