    testing SNE Plasma775DC + Q6700 -> 3200mh~4100mhz

    fan-> default 80x80x20mm 4800rpm 55CFM

    room temp 29C
    Q6700 @ 3200 (1.296v)

    room temp 29C
    Q6700 @ 3600mhz(1.425v)

    fan-> Vantec Tornado 80x80x38mm 5700rpm 84CFM

    room temp 26C
    Q6700 @ 3900mhz (1.58v)

    room temp 26C
    Q6700 @ 4000mhz (1.67v)

    room temp 26C
    Q6700 @ 4100mhz (1.67v)

    this little heatsink is a bit expensive(47us$) but is good and lapping the Plasma775DC should add a few more degrees

    im guessing its a big air duct, most likely so that a side case fan could aim the air straight at cpu or other way around.

    But tbh seems a little silly.

    Why should it be silly? Using cooler air from outside the case instead of using the already warmed air inside the case seems silly? I don't think so.
    But the problem is that you'll need a case with an opening or a case fan exactly positioned above the CPU. I know for sure that there are some cases available that have it, so it doesn't seem too bad of an idea to me.
    The only thing that I don't like about the heatsink is the stock 80x80x20mm fan. Seems a bit too weak for my liking.

    And as PcCI2iminal already showed, you'll need a high speed fan with that heatsink as the fin density is kinda high. Low speed fans won't be able to push enough air through the fins to effectively cool the heatsink down.

    its time for lapping ,the following picture is the result of 3 minutes of lapping on 600girt paper

    Those conners as i suspected the base was concaved shape and after spending 30 more minutes on 600 girt I switched to 1000 girt sandpaper(20minutes) and the final step. Switched to 1500 girt Sandpaper

    The following picture is after 20 minutes on 1500 girt Sandpaper

    and now the new numbers

    80x80x38mm Tornado
    Q6700 @ 3600mhz(1.425v)
    room temp 29C

    8C DROP in temperature load

    Looks great. But I doubt that this heatsink is any good for silent cooling. Or can you prove me wrong? Nonetheless, for pure performance it seems to be quite good.
